My Picks: Face Masks that are Stylish and Comfortable

Blogger Bianca Jade wears a tie dye face mask.

Full disclosure: I don't love wearing a face mask but I do it for your safety and for mine during the world's COVID-19 crisis. I don't think anyone enjoys wearing a mask! But this is our present reality. The first protective face mask that I got my hands on was the bubble shaped N-95 mask that is so tight and constricting around the mouth and cheekbones. I have really pronounced and high cheekbones so that mask wasn't  happening for me. Not a problem because overnight the face mask business quickly evolved!

Holiday Style & Fashion Inspo for Fall 2019

In my opinion, it makes sense to go sporty in the Fall and Winter months because it’s so darn cold outside and just easier to get around when you’re not dealing with the hassle of heels. Lately, I’ve been sporting 4 looks inspired by a few key pieces that I got from adidas. Sometimes adding just a few things to your wardrobe can really spruce up what you’ve already got.

Save the Oceans with Me and adidas!

These are my Ocean-safe Sunscreen Tips + info on the adidas Oceans Run in NYC.

Look at me! All decked out for summer fitness and spending oodles of time in the sun! The funny part about that last sentence is that I’m terrified of the sun even though I love how good it can feel on the skin. I leanred in my late 20’s and early 30’s that the sun can destroy your skin, and how easily one can contract skin cancer. So I don’t play that game anymore of going out in the sun without any sunscreen. Nope! The big news, when it comes to sunscreens, is that the FDA is reevaluating the safety of every single chemical sunscreen agent until November of 2019.

Already, many sunscreen brands and products using chemical ingredients have started to change their labels or discontinue certain lines. While many changes are still happening and we won’t get the FDA’s final results until November, what we do know is that MINERAL SUNSCREENS have been found to be the safest for both human...

$5,000 College Scholarship for Students of Latino Descent

As a #CafeBusteloPartner I’m thrilled announce that Café Bustelo has launched its El Café del Futuro Scholarship once again in partnership with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU).

If you’re a college-bound student or graduate student of Latino descent please KEEP READING because this year Café Bustelo is giving away a total of $100,000 in scholarship funds to 20 deserving Latino students. That could be YOU!

Watch my 1-minute video below to hear what it’s all about!

All twenty students selected will receive $5,000 each to go towards their college or graduate school tuition and educational expenses. To enter, you must meet the requirements of the scholarship (which I will link to below) and write a compelling essay about your Latino heritage, family and the community in which you grew up.

How have they impacted your desire and motivation to obtain a college degree? Additionally, you’ll need to thoughtfully describe what you...

Happy International Women’s Day 2019!

What a cool day, right? It’s OUR day but also a day to celebrate all the historic achievements of the women before our time. If someone were to ask me who I’d be celebrating today it would be Harriet Tubman, Frida Kahlo and Maya Angelou. All 3 women are icons who inspire me and whose life stories make me want to be a legend myself.

When I started Mizzfit.com over 10 years ago, my mission was to help motivate women to exercise and find a way to balance an active lifestyle with everything else they were doing. It started as a mere idea and became my passion, my mission and ultimately my career! A lot has evolved since the creation of this blog and expanded beyond this catchy url, but what has remained strong is my desire to LIFT WOMEN UP.

I hope the image that you see above make sense now :) I'm holding one of my best friends, Michelle Thomas, who I've known for years and actually met in a tabata fitness class. Michelle is like a sister to me. She’s someone I really...

Making it in NYC: Mentally & Physically

I officially moved to New York City when I was 24 years old. I already knew the city pretty well as I used to drive down into the city during my college years at Cornell University. Back then, a 5-hour drive seemed like nothing to experience an exciting weekend in the big city.  The summer before my junior year, I was accepted into a psychology internship at Cornell Weill Hospital and got to spend the entire summer living in the West Village and working hard at a job in line with my major.

Gosh, that was a long time ago! Here I am now, going on 15 years of living in this crazy city! Who knew I’d never leave? I fell in love with fast pace, forward thinking, urban lifestyle that’s unavoidable here. You either love it or you don’t and that’s what separates the “visitors” from the real New Yorkers. They say 7 years classifies you as a legit New Yorker. By that time, you’ve probably seen enough to either pack up your bags and leave or decide it’s home sweet...
