Save Your Blowout When You Workout! A Fitness Hair Tutorial from MizzFIT and BLOW.

Depending on how you look at it, sweat can be your best friend or your worst enemy at the gym. I say, sweat hard no matter what, but think smart in advance when it comes to your hair. That's where BLOW (the blowout salon) and one very handsome Blow Pro Expert named Gregory Patterson, come into my story.

We wanted women to have the answers for saving their blowout at the gym, during and after their workout. We wanted to change the idea that the only place you can go after the gym is home. According to Gregory, you CAN have red carpet hair post-gym. I saw how he does it with my own eyes and have been using his full proof tricks on my own hair ever since we made THIS VIDEO BELOW. I hope you like it! There's a very special discount at the end!

The beautiful fit women featured in my video are trainer/dancer Nicole Winhoffer and Nicole Katz of Yoga216. I chose them because they work hard at their fitness jobs and even though they're expected to sweat, they want to look glam while they glisten. The creativity and talent of both Nicoles inspire me. It's important to always surround yourself with inspiring people. You'll be better for it!

If you live in New York City, there's a BLOW salon on 14th street near 9th avenue. I highly recommend it and have loved all the blowouts I've gotten there. Hair pro Renee Li is responsible for the gorgeous blowout I had in my video. Ask for her next time you schedule an appointment! She taught me how to use several BLOW products that aren't mentioned in the video but are key to getting a smooth and sleek finished look. My blowout lasted for days (and yes, I worked out)!!! Click here for more BLOW locations.

My proudest moment of showing my inner beauty to the world was when I held a clothing drive for women who were " getting back on their feet," transitioning into the workforce (this was back in 2005). In addition to the clothing drive, I held a small conference called "Fashion Forward," featuring local businesswomen talking about the importance of confidence, determination, and other skills in order to succeed in any aspect of life - not just in one's career. Being able to help others in need, and bring inspiring businesswomen together, allowed me to show my inner beauty - I do like helping and sharing with others.

Hi Bianca!!!
First of all I loved this segment when I workout my hair just gets shoved in a ponytail, there is no pretty about it before or after!!! I love these little tips because its always nice to feel pretty and feminine after a long sweaty workout even if I'm working out at home :)Your hair is absolutely gorgeous by the way!!!
After becoming a mom I felt different not in a bad way I just knew I was no longer the person I was before. I was stuck in a body that was very unknown to me. I began working out because I knew I needed a change for myself. I wanted to be confident and feel beautiful. Once I lost the weight I still lacked the confidence that I was hoping to find. I began strength training and yoga, even though I had no idea what I was doing. I started seeing a transformation in my body that I had never seen before. I loved the way I looked in clothes I was starting to get all of the yoga poses I had worked so hard on everything was coming together. My focus was dead on my attitude was different I had a whole knew out look on life. One day I realized what the difference and change was, I was finally confident. I had never known what it was like to walk into a room and feel like you own it or to be so excited about achieving something like I do when I get that tough yoga pose. To achieve self confidence and love is an incredible feeling and when I gained those things I was finally able to show the world and MYSELF my inner beauty.

Amy Sopha April 25th, 2013 7:07PM

The proudest moment for me was giving birth to my son. It was in those few moments afterward that I understood true beauty. I realized what was "really" important and everything that my mother ever said or did made complete sense. My mom has been an amazing example of the woman I desire to be. She has taught me how to love myself, both qualities and flaws, and to embrace every part of who I am. I have such a wonderful sense of self and I want to instill that in my daughter just as my mother did for me.

If I were to win this package I would dedicate it to my mother, Happy Mother' s Day Mom!!

Brandy Z April 25th, 2013 7:41PM

Proudest moment of showing my inner beauty to the world was when I was diagnosed with breast cancer and overcame it. Since that time I've sought out online groups and local events to support the fight against cancer (breast and any other). I didn't let it get me down. I didn't let it freak me out. I used it as a learning experience (to learn not only about cancer and treatments, but about who I am inside and what I want out of the rest of my life).

Thank you for the opportunity to win!

Bergeron Ve April 25th, 2013 10:44PM

Inner beauty is, despite how people might have treated you try to be kind when they need your shoulder. As a young twenty year old I was heartbroken over the suicide of my boyfriend. A depression followed. My very best friend told me at that time that if I stayed depressed, she no longer wanted to see me. 15 years later and quite happy myself, bad luck stroke her: her husband of 20 years left her for no specific reason. She is now herself in a 10 year depression but despite her harsh words at the time (which left me even more devastated), I am always there for her.

What a great message with an awesome giveaway!!

5 simple rules that I try to follow include freeing my heart from hatred, freeing my mind from worries, living simply, giving more, and expecting less. I think that is really the key to feeling beautiful inside and out. It's everyday that I am making a conscious effort to letting my inner beauty shine!

CARRIE ROMAN April 26th, 2013 2:56AM

I DEFINATELY AGREE THAT WITHOUT INNER BEAUTY YOU DO NOT HAVE OUTER BEAUTY!! I suffer from serious illnesses & chronic pain for the last 13 yrs. I like to help counsel others in my situation to focus on what you are able to do NOT what you're no longer able to do! Remind them that there is plenty they can still do! Illnesses can bring you down & I refuse to not let it take away my joys & love of life and family & friends! Staying positive makes my inner beauty shine bright! =)

MizzFIT April 26th, 2013 6:54AM

Hi Liz,

Funny you should talk about "helping others" because this was what my yoga class delved into at the start of class today (where the Jivamukti instructors always speak about a life lesson or something that should be pondered). The whole idea is that our goal in life should be to aspire to help others. Because that is how someone dies RICH and HAPPY and FULFILLED. I believe it's true and it's amazing that you purposefully live your life that way. You are a leader and that's just a little piece of all the inner beauty I know lives inside of you!! Great answer for the giveaway!

xoxo, MizzFIT

MizzFIT April 26th, 2013 6:57AM

Hi Sandy,

I'm jealous. I want a garden and a farm. My concrete jungle doesn't really support that kind of lifestyle but I definitely dream about it from time to time. Wow! You are very giving indeed. Food is one of the kindest gifts you can give, and being planet-friendly is also doing a major service to our creator and the home he/she gave us. Now I'm feeling guilty about things I didn't recycle. Thank you for reminding me to better about this! You and your "inner beauty" are now both entered for the giveaway ;)

MizzFIT April 26th, 2013 7:01AM

Hi Brit,

Reading your response was so incredible because I felt for a minute like you let me read your diary entry. Who doesn't like reading someone else's diary, right? LOL! Anyway, I loved what I read. I never knew that's why you got so into fitness. But you found yourself, girl! All because you had a goal! And that's killer. I can't even imagine you without confidence because I see it in every pic of you on facebook. You truly inspire me and your inner beauty really shines through in everything that you do. Thank you for your response. Good luck on the giveaway!

MizzFIT April 26th, 2013 7:05AM

Hi Amy,

First it was Sandy's garden (another commenter) and now it's you and your amazing offspring that are bringing me to teary smiles. I don't have kids but I can only imagine what it's like to hold them in your arms for the very first time. It's probably like crossing a marathon finish line (I'm sure a million times better). As they say, "with great power comes great responsibility" and for me that's what I believe having kids is all about. I see your inner beauty as not just being proud of being a mama, but of being a damn good mom! It seems like you learned from the best (your mother). Thank you for sharing your loving pride! You're entered for the GlossyBox Giveaway!

MizzFIT April 26th, 2013 7:08AM

Hi Brandy,

Inner beauty, as Nitika Chopra shared with me in our video together, is all about accepting challenges that God bestows upon us. And accepting that we received this challenge because we were strong enough to stand up to it and overcome it. Reading your words, it seems you feel the same. I would never wish cancer on you again but you're a role model for having this attitude and showing everyone that getting sick is not the end of the's just the beginning of the fight. And that my friend, is "striking" beauty. You're signed up for the giveaway now.

Thank you! --MizzFIT

MizzFIT April 26th, 2013 7:12AM

Hello B,

I think this is the first time I've seen you comment here on Welcome! Your story is interesting and yes, Karma has it's way of ensnaring people (sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse). I've been on both ends myself. I think it's very BIG and BEAUTIFUL of you to not resent your friend for the ultimatum she once gave you. And it's even lovelier that you are there for her during her time of need. She needs you. I'm sure she now realizes her mistake. But what does that matter. All that matters is that you 2 are friends and can get past it. I'd be so lucky to have you as friend too!

Thanks for sharing your story!

MizzFIT April 26th, 2013 7:18AM

Hi Em,

This giveaway is kind of the perfect prize for you (given what I know about your makeup interests)! So glad you came to share your thoughts on this subject. I love that you give more but expect less from people. I think that's a good way to live because then you're never angry if people don't live up to your high expectations. I think all that matters is living up to your own sacred values with respect to other people. As long as you show people how amazing and caring you are, they're going to want to return that kind of respect and treatment back to you. Just keep smiling that big smiles of yours...because it's contagious! Your inner beauty is undeniable! Entered for the giveaway! Best of luck!

MizzFIT April 26th, 2013 7:23AM

Hi Carrie,

Positivity is infectious. It's also healing. Back in the day, I used to be annoyed by people who were ALWAYS so happy. I wondered if their life was really so perfect. But no one's life is perfect! And it wasn't the fact that they weren't sulking that bothered was that I couldn't be as happy as they were. But later in life I learned that all it takes to be happy and positive is making it a goal and making changes in your life that start to make you feel good. It doesn't mean you're free of sickness or bad things just means that you find a way to accept your life and make peace with it. We have such a short time on this earth. Why spend it always feeling pain, right? Thank you for sharing your story. I feel your words more than you know and I am honored that you shared them with me. Got you entered for the giveaway!

Vicki Sells April 26th, 2013 3:32PM

My most proud moment for showing my beauty was at my son's graduation with all his friends and family.

MizzFIT April 26th, 2013 5:27PM

Hi Vicki,

Tell me more about this moment! Why was your inner beauty at an all time high? How did you feel? What did you do? Would love to hear more :)

CARRIE ROMAN April 26th, 2013 5:52PM

THA MIZZFIT!! People are always telling me how absolutely positive I stay especially my Doctors too! I just refuse to let my illnesses take me & my life anymore away from me ya' know?! Everything is easier when you feel great about yourself & it shows to others & it is very contagious!! =)

Meghan R April 26th, 2013 6:07PM

Great message! My biz partner and I believe that if you have inner beauty, you have outer beauty. My proudest moments of showing inner beauty comes everytime we work with clients. We teach them that they are strong, capable and incredible; that they ARE runners and that their strength will shine through. We love watching our clients succeed and hearing their success stories!

Vicki Sells April 26th, 2013 7:44PM

I was beaming with pride my attitude was happy even at times a little silly. My hair was perfect so was my makeup and outfit. My little sun dress brite and yellow like the sun. He had struggled so with high school and came out with honors . As you can imagine I had a smile on my face from ear to ear. His father and grandfather came down to see him and it was just the best most wonderful day ever.

Marin Foster April 26th, 2013 9:49PM

I'm so glad to be a member of this community now! For years I was way too worried about how I looked, or what I was wearing, or how much money I made. About five years ago I found my cat Paddie at a local animal shelter, and I was so intrigued that I started volunteering there every week. That's when I began to realize what is really important. I LOVE taking care of those animals; their owners have abandoned them and they don't know why - all they need is love and attention to set their world right again. It's always such a happy event when one finds a new home. A very close second is that I donate platelets as often as I possibly can; it is very special that they can tell you later where your donation went and even a little about the life-changing results for which it was used. More than anything else, these two activities make me feel as though I make a positive contribution to the world and let my inner, beautiful person shine through.

MizzFIT April 27th, 2013 3:50AM

You couldn't have said it better. We need more people in the world like you. Seriously.

Have an amazing weekend!

MizzFIT April 27th, 2013 3:53AM

Hi Meghan,

Isn't it amazing when you love what you do? A lot of people are scared to pursue their dreams or true calling. Having the bravery to take risks and do something that you could possibly fail at is definitely "inner beauty". The most amazing jobs happen because we follow our hearts instead of worrying about security or $$$. Sounds like what you do is really rewarding and you probably have no trouble getting sleep at night. Thanks for sharing and you're entered for the giveaway!

MizzFIT April 27th, 2013 3:56AM

Hi Marin,

I am so moved by your response. I love animals. More than I can even put into words, actually. I ahve 2 puggles. Or rather, they have me! I'm really glad you take it upon yourself to give these animals love and that you think of others needs. Sounds like your inner beauty is shining bright all the time. Good luck in the giveaway!

Hugzz to you!

MizzFIT April 27th, 2013 3:59AM

Hi Vicki!

Now that's the kind of answer I was looking for!!!! I bet you looked amazing! Interesting how being so happy for him made you feel so good yourself. When you love someone it tends to give you even more reason to love yourself. You seem like you don't have a selfish bone in your body. Thank you for sharing a bit more about your inner beauty moment!

Sending ya good vibes and good luck in the giveaway!

Jodi April 29th, 2013 5:53AM

Very good question. And very hard to answer. I guess my proudest moment is when my 7 year daughter referred to a classmate as being on the big side and I talked with her about body image. I am trying to reinforce to her that "fat" is not a word we use and that every has different body shapes and there isn't one that is better than another.

Rachel April 29th, 2013 5:56AM

Volunteering, for me, is the greatest form of inner beauty. I've spent many years working with Big Brother Big Sister, The Special Olympics and food drives around my state. You wake up early, don't worry about your hair or makeup, and throw on a few comfy clothes, heading out the door to work with people who inspire you with their strength. At the end of the day, I've never felt more beautiful. I have this amazing energy that is noticed by my friends, family and co workers for the following week. My inner beauty brings out my outer beauty, but the most amazing thing is working with and getting to know the truly beautiful people around me.

MizzFIT April 29th, 2013 6:03AM

Hi Jodi,

I'm glad you like my question :) You sound like you're a very thoughtful and fair mother. Some moms think they children can do no wrong and never teach them right from wrong...or where inner beauty comes from. If their child isn't "fat" then "why bother?" could be thinking. But good moms don't want their kids to grow up judging others by what they look like on the outside (or rather what they don't look like, in terms of the social norm). If you don't learn things the right way as a child, and see the goodness in all people and creatures, then it's harder to learn it later. I truly believe that. GOOD FOR YOU and yes, you couldn't have chosen a better inner beauty moment to share. Good luck in the giveaway contest!

MizzFIT April 29th, 2013 6:06AM

Hi Rachel,

Volunteering is the best. I need to get back into it. Thanks for reminding me! Love that you are so passionate about it. You're now entered for the giveaway. THX for sharing your inner beauty moment here on!

Lacy April 29th, 2013 1:55PM

My inner beauty is my rigorous hard work to get my degree in psychology! I have a natural sensitivity and empathy that is so imperative to any helping degree. My education is molding and framing that, so that someday I can help other's inner beauty shine! I can't wait to be in my field!

Kelli April 29th, 2013 2:51PM

My proudest moment has come very slowly as I have watched my daughter grow into a beautiful young lady. Recently she attended her first "banquet" prom, but a little different. I have always tried to put the focus on natural beauty, excentuating the beauty that is already there.I feel that so much of what we do as women, our joy in moments, gets lost in concentrating on our looks. Watching her make choices as she prepared her "look" for the evening was so comforting. She put together a very elegant, classy look. Her makeup played up her natural beauty, but didn't overtake her. She was able to be in the moment and have a great time without obsessing over her looks. I consider that a great success in todays culture. She is beautiful inside and out and I am one proud Mom!

Jaclyn April 29th, 2013 4:03PM

After I started to eat healthy and exercise daily by myself and with a personal trainer.I lost 32 lbs and I'm rocking my new body on a daily basis !!!!! My greatest accomplishment is fitting into anything I desire and not leaving a store in tears :))))

MizzFIT April 29th, 2013 5:20PM

Hi Lacy!

Lovely answer. I majored in psychology too. One of the BEST decisions of my life. Your passion is loud and clear and truly inspiring. Good luck in the giveaway!

MizzFIT April 29th, 2013 5:23PM

Hi Kelli,

First of all, I love that you are a classy mom who is gushing about the beauty of her daughter (inside and out). You 2 sound like you have a fabulous relationship full of mutual respect. I really love my mom too. We've gone through our ups and downs, but I always want to impress her and make her proud. Your daughter must feel the same way. Thanks for showing us your inner beauty and I've entered you for the giveaway!

MizzFIT April 29th, 2013 5:26PM

Hi Jaclyn,

SO COOL! Isn't that a great feeling! You accomplished a major goal and now you get to relish in it! Enjoy having a body you love! Just remember to always treat it right and give yourself moments to enjoy things that are off the "healthy menu" too. Thanks for sharing your story! Good luck in the giveaway!

Changing my mantra for 2013 to 'practice daily random acts of kindness' and not just when tragedy happens.

MizzFIT April 30th, 2013 9:18PM

Hola Leah B,

What was your old mantra? Love how your CURRENTLY letting your inner beauty shine. I like that mantra and might steal it from ya! Thanks for entering this giveaway and good luck!

Jennie April 30th, 2013 10:17PM

My proudest moment of showing my inner beauty to the world came when I accepted myself for who I was and decided to practice more self love. Instead of judging myself for where I wanted to be in life, I decided to accept where I was. I set goals and work towards them but keep in mind that things don't always work out the way you plan. Life is a process and you have to trust that things will work out eventually. I believe when you change the way you feel inside, you have more love and compassion for the world around you. I try to do little acts of kindness everyday.

Tamara P April 30th, 2013 11:24PM

Inner beauty is best shown through action. When I lived in NYC, I was part of a "bikur cholim" group that visited sick people at Mt. Sinai hospital every Saturday afternoon. By sharing our light with people who might not otherwise have a listening ear or a hand to hold, we demonstrated compassion, one of the most beautiful values. :)

Joanne Johnson April 30th, 2013 11:36PM

Inner beauty is shown by being kind to our fellow women. Not judging or hating or looking down on someone who didn't do their hair or makeup. Not thinking mean hateful thoughts about someone who is overweight, or not our version of "pretty". Inner beauty is also about being kind to ourselves by stopping negative thoughts, reinforcing positive ones, and being our own best friend.

MizzFIT May 1st, 2013 2:21AM

Hi Jennie,

Love your response. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in where we're supposed to be. I like to dream BIG. But I get what you're saying too. You have to show gratitude for what you have otherwise how can you ever be happy having more, right? This is some deep thinking and I appreciate your inner beauty tied to it! Thanks for entering my giveaway!

Your friend,

MizzFIT May 1st, 2013 2:25AM

Hi Tamara,

1) you owe me an email! 2) How can I get involved with that volunteer service you did. Sounds amazing. I want to do it here as well in NYC. You have a really big heart. I'm grateful to know you. Really.

MizzFIT May 1st, 2013 2:26AM

Hi Joanne,

You are SO RIGHT. How do you show your inner beauty in your life? Any examples you can share. Or were those things that you do? I definitely agree with not judging. We always have to remind ourselves of that. I prefer helping and supporting people. Sounds like you do too :)

Linz @ Itz Linz May 1st, 2013 5:34PM

I liked MizzFit & GlossyBox on Facebook! :) My proudest moment of sharing my inner beauty to the world is by showing the world what kind of person I am. I am smart, confident, caring, passionate, and want to make the world a better place. I try to make the world a better place by tiny actions... smiling at people who I pass, asking how someone's day is, offering to help someone in need. Inner beauty is what's on the inside (well duh), but what I mean is what's in your HEART!

MizzFIT May 1st, 2013 8:22PM

Hi Linz,

Well put. And since I know you personally, I can say that I know you have a great smile and it's well received by many. Thanks for entering the giveaway and sharing your amazing inner beauty!

Great video and super helpful! You always have the best videos- I always look forward to the next one!

Honestly I feel my proudest inner beauty moments happen everyday, at least I hope they do, and thats just doing the little things well. Like being there for my friends, near and far, or being present for my daughter-looking up and listening. Paying attention to the needs of people in my everyday life because they're a part of my everyday life and that needs constant nurturing.

Thanks for the chance!!

MizzFIT May 2nd, 2013 3:43AM

Hi Megan,

I love how a lot of women, like you, have talked about their inner beauty moments linked to their children. It's the little "beautiful" things that we do every day that sometimes matter most and have the biggest impact. Thank you for sharing your response and entering the giveaway!

I would have to say one of my inner beauty moments was when my husband and I took a 16 hour trip across country to pick up my sister and her two small children. I had visited my sister earlier in the summer and had recognized the signs of spousal abuse. After several months of building her up, and another verbal and physical altercation with her husband, I convinced her to move in with me and my family. We arrived in the middle of the night, waited until right after dawn and her husband left for work, then packed up only what was necessary. She left everything behind. We filed the necessary paperwork with the police and the abuse shelter and fled the state. We drove another 16 hours and arrived home. We helped her and her kids get counseling, a job, enroll in school, get a divorce and start over. She is now in a healthy relationship with someone new and her and the kids are thriving. It wasn't easy. It was dangerous, hard, and there were a lot of bumps and lessons along the way. However, I would gladly do it again when I see how well her life is turning out. Many women don't understand how someone can continue to stay in an abusive relationship, but unless you've lived it, please have compassion and understanding. It is difficult and takes more courage than most possess to make such a huge change. To this day we still support our local domestic abuse shelter.

One of my proudest moments was getting to open up about women's health with Kotex in NYC. I've never talked that openly with strangers and I feel like we all learned so much from each other.

MizzFIT May 3rd, 2013 11:12PM

Dear Ann C,

WOW!!! What an amazing story. And what an amazing person you are. I feel like the story you told is a moment of inner beauty shared between you and your sister. It's beyond cool. Beyond supportive. As they say, "that's what sisters are for". And thank God for the bond of family. You're basically a hero. Thanks for sharing that story with us here.

Big hug,

My proudest moment of inner beauty was when I gave bith naturally twice. I looked like a hot mess but inside I was glowing because I did it. So many people doubted me but I did it!!

Sheena Mariee Eaton May 4th, 2013 9:59PM

My Proudest moment of showing my inner beauty to the world is when I volunteered at the local food bank. It was really inspiring and rewarding to be in the company of such great people and lifting their spirits and knowing that I am making a difference in their lives is irreplaceable! I loved it so much that I now volunteer once a month!

MJ Moore May 5th, 2013 10:24PM

Last year, my husband ran for local office as an independent. To get on the ballot, he had to collect hundreds of signatures. But he got called out of state during the process, so I ended up going out every night for a week, going door-to-door collecting signatures. It took almost all of a Saturday, too! I found so many people either hadn't registered to vote or lied about it to avoid having to talk to me- several people were surprisingly rude- one or two couldn't vote (according to their own accounts)because of crimes they had committed- but I also found I had an inner strength I never knew I possessed. My proudest moment was when I dropped off the signatures at the state capitol to be officially counted- now I tell myself, I can do anything!

Pretty cool! I can't imagine the obstacles you must have faced going door to door. People can be unbearably rude. You must have felt like Rocky going up those steps to drop off those signatures! Kudos!!

Thanks! I really did feel like that :) But you know, it's funny- the rude people were more than compensated for, by the kind ones. I met all kinds! It made me appreciate the people in my town a lot more, warts and all.

Unbelievably cool. You're a beautiful wifey. Love the commitment and tough skin you showed off. Beneath it all, you've def got that inner beauty! Thanks for entering the giveaway!

Hi Sheena,

Volunteering is something that seems like a pain at first (esp if you're a busy person) but then once you do it, you're filled with so much love. It's rewarding and reminds you that you're human...and capable of caring deeply for people beyond your immediate family and friends. I really must start volunteering more.

Thx for the share!

The one thing that makes me feel proudest whenever I begin to doubt myself, is after my graduation. A guy I knew went up to my mom when I wasn't there (she told me later, very proud herself) and thanked her for me. He said without me just taking the time every day to say hi and talk to him, he wouldn't have been able to get through school. I try to remember that now when I feel too busy or in a bad mood, and always smile and say hi to people.
