Sneaker Giveaway + Last NBGNO Hurrah

Fashion/Gift - Entertainment

Parting will be such sweet sorrow for me as New Balance has its last Girls' Night Out event of the summer in New York City this upcoming Thursday night. As the GNO host and emcee, it's been so much fun being a part of this genius movement and I'm happy to pass the baton off as #NBGNO heads west! For all of you in the Midwest and West Coast, be on the lookout for Girls' Night Out events heading toward ya in the next few months!

New York women, listen up! Before it's too late, RSVP to come join me for our last hurrah. Click this link to sign up and find more info below...

On Thursday, if you come, you'll see the comraderie and care that has grown between our regular attendees. Not only do women work out together at our events, they support each other to become stronger in many aspects of life and business. I love this pic of two #NBGNO women hugging--such a special moment captured by our event photographer.

Self-expression and my New Balance custom sneaker giveaway. What do these 2 things have to do with each other? Self-expression is the theme of our last #NBGNO party because part of being successful at fitness & health is making it your own. That means customizing fitness to your own interests and style. New Balance even developed a new online feature that lets you customize 2 popular styles of New Balance sneakers so that you can create a shoe that's uniquely your own, and literally let it move you!

This is what you'll see when you go to the New Balance website and click on the Custom Shoes button...

I was given the chance to design my own Women's 574 shoe and geez, I spent hours going back and forth between designs and colors! But I finally decided on a pair and really enjoyed the process of having creative control. Unfortunately when my sneaks I arrived, I realized that I had ordered a size too small. So I'm giving them away! If you wear a size 7 shoe, ENTER THIS GIVEAWAY!!!

As you may have seen from the photo at the very top of this article, I took "self-expression" a step further and bedazzled the New Balance logo with pearls and added some sparkly laces. I'm really into pearls right now so I've been bedazzling a lot of things with 'em. I guess I'll know what you think by how many people enter my giveaway, haha!

To win my Mizzfit custom designed New Balance sneaks (brand new/never worn), follow these easy steps:

  • Leave a comment below about self-expression, and..
  • Repost 1 image from this article on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook. I leave it up to you where to post, but you have to tag me on whatever social network you choose in order for me to see the re-post! I've linked my handle to each network above to make it easy and hope that you'll follow me too :)
  • Lastly, in the comments section, please also leave a social media handle where I can reach you about the prize (in case you don't see the announcement here).

Once #NBGNO is over, how can you keep the Girls' Night Out spirit alive? That's an easy one for me to answer and it's a cinch for you to do using the GNO Meet up online app that New Balance created. The GNO Meetup app lets you create and find runs with your good friends or new girls you'd like to meet for social workouts. It's the best way to further the #NBGNO female empowered movement, and the app makes it easy to outline your run to get a sizable group together ahead of time. Good things take a lil bit of planning...but are always worth it in the end.

That's it for now. I don't want to say goodbye to #NBGNO, but I know our last party will be our best one yet. I hope to see you there. Don't forget to say hello!  xoxo, Bianca Jade

Say what's on your mind!

There are so many great blogs and books out there on fitness and getting womanly strong. I love reading them and taking the parts that work for me then going full speed ahead. My self-expression is working hard and being strong - with so bows and girliness mixed in.

I love the shoes! I had no idea New Balance allowed you to design your own pair! That's like the ultimate way to show self-expression! I absolutely believe that everyone shows self-expression through their clothing and style!

When I think of self expression a quote from someone I have a love/hate relationship with resides in my mind. Steve Jobs once said "your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it." Express yourself, be satisfied with yourself, believe in yourself, love yourself and if you don't, do more, do better until you do.

I think fitness fashion has a lot to do with self-expression, just as much as the fitness you tend to pursue. I love tough, hardcore workouts like kickboxing which makes me feel strong and powerful, zumba which makes me feel flirty and energized, but also yoga which makes me calm and balanced; all qualities I like in myself. I also tend to choose my workout based on my mood, and that's another way to bring it back to yourself. I also typically would not wear the same workout outfit to all three of these workouts as I like to wear what I feel - zumba I might wear more neon and flowy items that move with the music; yoga and running I like pastels to feel feminine, calm, and with nature (which is why your shoes are PERF), and kickboxing I really like to wear wild, form-hugging garments that make me feel like a warrior! It's all about having fun and being yourself; if you find one thing you really love then stick to it, but I love trying new workouts and new outfits out to see what I like best, and see what personality traits they will heighten!

Also I wish I could be at a #NBGNO party, it looks like a blast full of positivity and fun! I've loved seeing your IG pix :)

Fitness isn't about others. They are not able to help you when your body is sore, you're craving food you're trying to avoid, and you get weird looks for having water instead of wine. They also don't feel the confidence when you see change in your body, you can run up all the stairs without being winded, and the wind gets a little stronger in your face as you start being able to run faster. Fitness is about you, and the work you put into it will be the results you feel and the results other people see, not just in your body, but in your personality. So give it the best you've got, and express yourself completely and without reservation, cause this is all you ;)

Self-expression is more than just clothes and hair. It's the way you carry yourself, those faces you make in the mirror while doing deadlift high pulls, the eye contact you make with other runners on the West Side Highway...

Penny July 19th, 2014 6:44AM

I'm all about self expression, it's putting your best self forward even when you are having "one if those days" it's still about being you. As I find myself bearing my mid-thirties I'm still exploring aspects of myself I want to try to project a more professional and out together version of myself but in a fun way. I have tattoos which is another thing that is a form of expression, I write, I blog, I advocate....these are all tools I use to express my self.

I'm also trying hard to learn that projection of self needs to be balanced with protection of self. You have to take care of yourself in order to put you best foot forward!

I express myself more when I'm running because I don't have to dress a certain way for a job or dress for anything like a social gathering. When I run I like to dress up I'm crazy colors because I'm dressing for me and what I'm comfortable in. I like to tune everything out with my music that no one can hear or judge cause I'm the only one that can hear it and yes when no one is around I do sing. I think I am more myself when I run and I enjoy it.

Self expression is part of our soul! Children do this automatically and somehow we forget as we get older. It is connected to our heart and vital to life! twitter and instagram @scoopstweet
