Loose Ponytail Trend + Matrix Hair Giveaway

Fashion/Gift - Trending

New York Fashion Week (NYFW) this fall was superb! I'm still recovering from it. Literally! I caught the flu somewhere between rushing to shows and shaking hands with and hugging everyone. It didn't help that the weather was changing too. But that's what it's all about! CHANGE. The birth of new trends to follow!

You might think that living in downtown Manhattan, I already see it all when it comes to high style. To some extent that's true because of the amazing and innovative fashion sense people have here. BUT, I'm never as exposed to the world of fashion and the mind-blowing creations debuting on runways as I am during NYFW.

One of the shows I was invited to was Julianna Bass. It was spectacular. She presented her "Search Don't Rescue" collection, which really appealed to me because I'm a huge fan of monochromatic, flowy dresses and pairings. There was also texture and dimension from the cut-out pieces presented, as well as movement from crazier digital prints on silky fabrics.

I loved the collection but what I spotted as the biggest trend of this show was actually the HAIR!

Every model strut down the catwalk with a fabulous loose ponytail that had wispy fallout on the sides. As they made their way, their hair ever so perfectly blew backwards. It was incredible!

I was having insane hair envy and had to get the story behind these sublime ponies. The hair products used for this show by artistic director Daniel Roldan are from the Matrix StyleLink Collection. Interesting enough, this hair care line really mirrors Julianna Bass' vision for her presentation: lots of texture, movement and intricate silhouettes.

As many of you know, I have long, thick hair. It's easy to tie it back but what I love most is showing the movement of all my layers. I think Daniel Roldan really nailed it with the hair looks he created. It's a nice balance of movement and hold.

Even though the models have wispy, unrestrained strands at the sides and their hairbands look like they're about to fall out, you better believe product is what helps keep this very "undone look" held together and on point.

The hair comes off as very subtle but by the end of the show, I really thought it was the cherry on top. To create this hair yourself, you're either 1) born with it, or 2) like me, you can blow dry it very straight and then use a combo of Matrix's Gloss Booster and Texture Builder Finish Spray to give it that shiny, "a breeze just blew through my hair" look.

The best part of the show was getting to see my friend Maria Arrington who produced it. She's a fellow entrepreneur and boss lady! Really proud of her. They say the best work happens behind the scenes and before the show starts.

Don't go yet! I've got a GIVEAWAY to tell you about.
