Spring 'Lean with my New Quarterly Box

1. What's the theme for #MIZ11?  Can you explain why you chose this?

Spring is always that time where we clean out and clear away the dust and clutter in our lives. I recently cleaned out my clothes and shoe closet and ended up throwing a bunch of stuff away and donating the rest. Afterwards I felt lighter, more focused and organized.

Have you ever thought about Spring cleaning your fitness routine too? I'll admit, I didn't start until the last year or two when I realized I was accumulating too much stuff. I have a chest full of fitness gear and equiptment in my apartment, and OMG, the things I found inside of it had me rolling on the ground. Like, cheesy fitness dvd's that I can't play anymore since my laptop has no disc slot, sweat bands (like 70's style that you wear on your forehead) and expired marathon training fuel paks (like Gu's and chewable beans). I had to get rid of all of it!

Your fitness "stash" can definitely weigh you down. Get rid of the stuff you don't use and refresh your routine. That's where the theme of SPRING 'LEAN comes in. The more you clean out, the more you trim off!

2. Which #MIZ11 items do you think will be the most popular for helping subscribers achieve their goals?

This is a great question and a great opportunity to reveal 2 spoilers. I'm confident the book Should I Scoop My Bagel (which comes with a surprise stylish accessory for portion control) will be instrumental for teaching subscribers how to eat better, and distinguish between weightloss myths and facts. It's an easy read and one that every woman can relate to because it's written by 2 very REAL WOMEN with a great sense of humor. I know the authors personally and they're committed to sharing tips that real women can apply to their everyday lives without feeling like they're going nuts or starving. I love their approach and writing style, so I was compelled to include the book.

The other item would be the Perfect Fitness Bands Kit, which will come with a workout video that I filmed on my vacation to show you how easy it is to use resistance bands to get in shape ANYWHERE. These type of bands are the best for muscle toning and leaning. And you won't bulk like you can with heavy weights. There are other great items in the box, but since these items are directly focused on nutrition and fitness, I believe they'll be the GOALden ones ;)

You always include beauty components in each of your Quarterly mailings. How does your fitness beauty routine change as the months get warmer?

My skin drastically changes from season to season, and I break out more in warmer weather. During winter months I'm all about hydration and moisturizing, but as soon as Spring and Summer hit, I have to clear out most of these products from my vanity and invest in acne-fighting  treatments and more lightweight serums.

#MIZ11 features Blemish Dots by Skyn Iceland. I met the founder of this company during New York Fashion Week and her skin was impeccable. I confided in her that I often get cystic or large visible blemishes that drive me nuts. She sent me these Blemish Dots which I wear at night to eliminate my zits. I love them because they're non-irritating but very effective. I have really sensitive skin, so for me to say that is HUGE!

Funny story but one time, I forgot to remove them in the morning and I went to work with them still on. No one even noticed because they're completely translucent. So, you can actually get away with wearing them in the daytime too. I'm excited for subscribers to enjoy a full sized box!

We can always count on our #MIZ boxes to expose us to new healthy snacks! What boxes have to be checked when you select a snack to power you through the day?  

I'm so picky about energy bars and post-workout snacks because oftentimes they're high in sugar and deliver more protein than you actually need. I think I gained a solid 10 pounds once from eating a brand of high protein "energy cookies" that a company gifted me. They were so delicious but they weren't healthy and I paid the price with a sudden weight gain.

For #MIZ boxes, I look for pre and post-workout snacks that are gluten-free, non-GMO, made with natural sugars and ingredients, that are smartly sized and feature a unique ingredient that is both tasty and beneficial to providing energy or restorative protein for repairing your muscles. They must also score high on toss-ability into your gym bag.

What new fitness trends will you be trying out this spring/summer?

Every trend I can find! I'm a fitness trend whore, haha! But seriously, right now I'm loving Flyte Fitness, which are these cool grip-able rollers you can do tons of exercises with. Curious to hear what you guys think of them for a future box. I'm super into Floating, Buti Yoga, and loving accessories like non-denting hair coils from Mixed Chicks and a Sweat Stick with SPF powder foundation to match your skintone. There might be a spoiler in there somewhere, wink wink.
