I heart ASYM ear buds because...
- They feel good. When I popped ASYM ear buds (in catfight hot pink) into my ears, I experienced superior comfort right away. These buds are shaped for asymmetric ears (don't pout, no one's ears are perfect). Instead of the awkward ear clip which always rubs me the wrong way (literally), ASYM's ear phone cable runs over the top of your ear in a non-intrusive, fashionably smart way.
- They sound good. I selected a mix by dj/producer Lauren Flax and slipped into a world of intense sound. It felt like I had headphones on, not ear buds! I even removed them to see if they were emitting sound because the sound was so unbelievably powerful for a bud. They weren't. Which means no one has to know what you're sweating to. It's OK, we all have embarassing music that gets us going.
- They price is good. At $39.95, these non-invasive ear buds are fitness-friendly and will make your workout mix jump. Not bad at all as long as you steer clear of pools and rain (they're not waterproof).
- The case is too cute to trash (that's a first!). Big enough to hold loose keys. Small enough to hook to your keychain. It's made with mesh which means ASYM buds will air out (from all your nasty ear sweat) even when they're stored away.

Luv the article on the asyms! I own FMJs, the foldable low riders and 2 smkn buds and have wanted to get a pair of asyms 4 a long time. Now I’m SOLD. Music is sometimes my best motivator when working out and I can’t get enough of Skull Candy headphones.

I own smokin buds too but the ASYMS definitely top them! They’re a lot more comfortable and stylish. I wish there were more workout-friendly headphones though (made to be sweat-proof with powerful sound and ear comfort). HINT HINT SKULLCANDY! Thanks for your comment Blake!

I had tried the Etymotic Research ER6i earphones based on reviews from ADVrider.com, Ars Technica’s Lounge forum, and a few other places. While they sounded great, they were very uncomfortable and I couldn’t figure out how anyone could wear them on a motorcycle. They didn’t block much wind noise, either. I gladly sold them.
It was with hope and some reluctance that I tried out the Skullcandy Asym earphones as suggested on an FJR forum I frequent. The Asym was designed for dynamic activities like snowboarding, skating, and perhaps even motorcycling. Sporting a design that was “helmet friendly,” the Asyms seemed to be what I was looking for. Best of all, they were available at Target for $40 — half the price as the ER6i earphones.
