Today I went to my SoulCycle "Outdoors" spin class here in NYC's Hudson Yards Plaza and the instructor leading the class said to everyone "2020 is over...it's DONE." I get why she said this. We all do, right? But as I was pedaling away I began to think about the last few months and how 'parts of 2020 weren't so bad'. Yes, 2020 (post-February and about a week or so into March) required lots of quarantining and social distancing, but it also required a lot of work to reach out and reconnect with friends and family.
Now that hand sanitizer is a part of our every day lives, don’t you think we should put a little more thought into how we shop for it? At the beginning of the pandemic, I just grabbed whatever hand sanitizer I saw on a store shelf without much thought for the quality of product inside the bottle. But after 6 months of rubbing sanitizer between my fingers, I definitely notice a difference between brands and my conclusion is that all hand sanitizers are not equal.
I made this abstract video diary to preserve the moment I was experiencing while standing in the Hudson Yards Plaza during a worldwide pandemic. The Hudson Yards Plaza is the home to a structure called The Vessel. This is a spot in Manhattan that quickly became a high traffic area upon it's historic opening day. It also happens to be a place I spend a lot of time because it's in my neighborhood, about one walking block from where I live.
I'm really quite pleased with this thoughtful interview hosted by Sarah Funky for GoDaddy's "School of Hustle". I loved the questions and insight I got to share on the how and why of my business, Mizzfit. If you're interested in what I do as a media personality and content creator (as well as FEMALE BUSINESS OWNER), please watch and support this incredible series. It's designed to give you insight as a current or future entrerpreneur.
Full disclosure: I don't love wearing a face mask but I do it for your safety and for mine during the world's COVID-19 crisis. I don't think anyone enjoys wearing a mask! But this is our present reality. The first protective face mask that I got my hands on was the bubble shaped N-95 mask that is so tight and constricting around the mouth and cheekbones. I have really pronounced and high cheekbones so that mask wasn't happening for me. Not a problem because overnight the face mask business quickly evolved!
Look at me cooking up a storm! Ha! I thought you might enjoy this video-recipe as it's something I cook at home often. It's a very typical Latin style breakfast. So if you like latin food, you're going to love it! Here goes...
I might as well start posting updates on my workout routine, since these covid-19 times have dramatically limited all of our fitness options nation-wide. YES, I'm still working out every day and NO, it wasn't easy to restructure my workout routine. Over the past 5 months, I've been able to find outdoor classes, workout videos, trainers, a running team and so on, that compliment my schedule. But I'm going to be honest, the stuff that isn't online is few and far between because people are trying to social distance and exercise safely.
