Meet Frida Chihualo :) She's my darling, 11 year-old brindle chihuahua. Her name is obviously inspired by Frida Kahlo, an artist I love because of her incredible story of enduring one challenge after another. My Frida is similarly a fighter and she brings so much beauty and color to the world, hence the name!
I barely shop for clothes anymore unless they're in my closet. Living in the fashion mecca that is NYC, I’ve seen a shift towards a different kind of self-expression: ear design, nail art and tattoos! I admit, I’ve fallen hard for all 3 trends...so have a look at my favorites.
In 2020, the island of Nevis announced that I was one of their six chosen Digital Ambassadors. I couldn't have been more pleased and honored to assume this role (still am!) as the isle of Nevis is one of my favorite places on the planet. I've traveled to Nevis several times and will continue to as I think of this charming island as a 2nd home. So if you're reading this and on the brink of making your own getaway plans to Nevis, DO IT!
Here’s my quick gift guide for progressive lovers on VDAY. While I always think experiences are more memorable than tangible gifts, I’ve put together a mix of ideas here that should get your creative juices flowing for Valentine’s Day. I admit I had some trouble thinking about this in a gender-free, non-binary way so I'll just chalk it up to this being a fun gift guide made by a straight girl for whoever wants to read it. If you’re single, like me, buy yourself all the things that speak to your self-love or share a good plan with your girlfriends.
I leveled up this year for the holidays with a recipe that's a cocktail and dessert in one. Introducing my Rum Soaked, Brown Sugar Grapefruit Brûlee! It's healthier than pie and you can also have it for breakfast! Just remember, it's SPIKED! I made this recipe as part of LG Electronics #LGhomestyle challenge, which was really fun to take part in. You can still engage on any #LGhomestyleSweepstakes posts (just search for the hashtag on Insta or Tiktok) to win a meet-up with all the participating celebrities. My pick would be Molly Sims but Arod seems to be the draw.
Today I went to my SoulCycle "Outdoors" spin class here in NYC's Hudson Yards Plaza and the instructor leading the class said to everyone "2020 is over...it's DONE." I get why she said this. We all do, right? But as I was pedaling away I began to think about the last few months and how 'parts of 2020 weren't so bad'. Yes, 2020 (post-February and about a week or so into March) required lots of quarantining and social distancing, but it also required a lot of work to reach out and reconnect with friends and family.
Now that hand sanitizer is a part of our every day lives, don’t you think we should put a little more thought into how we shop for it? At the beginning of the pandemic, I just grabbed whatever hand sanitizer I saw on a store shelf without much thought for the quality of product inside the bottle. But after 6 months of rubbing sanitizer between my fingers, I definitely notice a difference between brands and my conclusion is that all hand sanitizers are not equal.
I made this abstract video diary to preserve the moment I was experiencing while standing in the Hudson Yards Plaza during a worldwide pandemic. The Hudson Yards Plaza is the home to a structure called The Vessel. This is a spot in Manhattan that quickly became a high traffic area upon it's historic opening day. It also happens to be a place I spend a lot of time because it's in my neighborhood, about one walking block from where I live.
