Video - Great Day STL 2012- "Built-in Fitness Equipment"

Burnin' calories on TV and all I did was stand there.

Morning show host, Virginia Kerr is my HERO! She made my latest fitness fashion segment on the Great Day St. Louis show a breeze. They say laughter burns calories. I must've burned a couple hundred just standing there when she put on the Halo Sport headband. I cherish women like Virginia who get so excited about fitness trends they just can't wait to get their hands on it...or heads into it!

Let's dive deeper into the fitness gems you watched in the video (for more info and irresistible discounts). I know you can't tell from the pic below, but I was so excited to the point of shaking to present these on TV to you! That's what you call a true fitness junkie.

*** Stylish workout gear with BUILT-IN fitness equipment ***

W8FIT Apparel is a line of weighted workout clothes designed specifically for women by superstar Maya Kaminsky. There are pockets in the racerback tank, capris and cuffs that you insert credit card sized weights into which range from 1/4 to 1/2 pound. The pockets hold the weight securely while you workout giving you an extra bit of challenge and resistance. I'm a huge fan of the cuffs for basically everything from shadow boxing, zumba, strength training bootcamps and power walking. Keep in mind that W8FIT weights are sold separately from apparel but they only cost $5-$10 for a 2-pack and I recommend buying both sizes especially for the capri pants. Special promo!!! Get 20% off at W8FIT until the end of October when you use the promo code MIZZFIT at checkout.

Amphipod's Flashing LED Arm/Ankle Band is pure genius because it comes in reflective neon pink and has built-in mini-lights to make your workout safer. If you like to exercise outside, it's a must especially as the season turns to Fall and it's getting darker much earlier outside. The band is adjustable, lightweight and easy to turn on and off while wearing it. I'm in marathon training right now and don't go for night runs without it!

Halo Sport Headbands are a girl's best friend for keeping your hair back and your music on. It's hard to imagine but a pair of wafer thin speakers fit inside this headband and they're also removable for headband washing.

The Empowerment Bra by BodyRock Sport is very dear to my heart because 1 in 7 women get breast cancer. It gives women who've had mastectomies the "equipment" to feel outrageously sexy while working out. That's of course, if you like boobies. But who doesn't like boobies? The Empowerment Bra has built-in high quality padded molded cups and lined pocket slits for the silicone inserts of your preference. Been A Boob makes good ones. Special promo!!! Get 20% off The Empowerment Bra at when you use the promo code MIZZFIT at checkout.

JammyPacks are what I like to call the hipster boom box. Unfortunately I wasn't able to feature these on Great Day, but they're still one of my favorites (I roller skate in them). Check them out below. They're roomy hip packs with built-in speakers that let you play music outloud. Attach your iPod/iPhone and turn up volume. With the JammyPack everyone can hear what you're jammin' to, so keep your audience in mind and stick to the hits everyone loves.Special promo!!! Get 30% off a JammyPack through 2012 when you use the promo code MIZZFIT at checkout.

I accidentally made my workouts harder by using Vibram sneakers!! I do a lot of HIIT in my apartment, on the fourth floor, next to shelving with my glassware on it. For the sake of my neighbors and my glasses, I started working out barefoot, and wanted a little additional support so I sprung for the Vibrams. My calves now get a workout like none other!! Traditional sneakers take a lot out of the foot and calf muscle use, so switching to Vibrams has made a noticeable difference in my calf and arch strength.

I'm definitely lusting for the Halo Sport. I'm half deaf, and work construction, so I try to use headphones instead of earbuds to save my hearing, but they don't stay on during exercise, meaning that I have to listen to my panting all workout long. Halo Sport would definitely hold my crazy hair out of my face and allow me to finally listen to music during my workouts!! They seem amazing!

Sharon September 20th, 2012 2:29AM

To make my workouts funner I use my son's football training equipment (cones, hoops & ladder)and build a mini circuit training workout.

I would like the W8fit apparel. It's such a unique idea to add weights in the apparel to make your workout harder. I love it!

Elyse Lutzi September 20th, 2012 2:58AM

Unfortunately mine is quite simple, rockin, and FUN! I put insane dance music on my ipod and DANCE, yes DANCE whilst on the treadmill..and singing like I'm a rock star! Which at that moment I AM! It motivates me and makes me feel like I can take on the world..My music ranges from 80's new wave to techno to all club! In my mind I am the FITNESS DJ OF THE I am really laughing!!! :) Love to MizzFit!

brittany monroe September 20th, 2012 3:10AM

I love wearing ridiculously cute workout clothes (I love BodyRock Sport I absolutely adore Kelly and her work :) it makes me want to push harder and longer because I feel great in what i'm wearing!!! I love having music that keeps me pumped up i'm not a huge fan of anything new but I absolutely love classic rock it keeps me going through my long workouts. I have to have a great headband because it drives me crazy when my hair falls in my face. And Compression gear is a must because I want my gear to fit tight so i'm not worrying about my pants falling down or my tops moving it helps keep me going longer and faster.

MizzFIT September 20th, 2012 9:10AM

Wow! What a great comment. You work out like me! I do all my home workouts barefoot for more of a challenge. Wondering which Vibrams you got. Sounds like the Halo Sport headband would be perfect for you. You're entered for the giveaway! Thanks! --MizzFIT

MizzFIT September 20th, 2012 9:12AM

Hi Sharon,

Since I know what you look like and I know how much you love fitness, I can just picture this scenario of you in my head perfectly. I love that you get creative and find equipment in your home to create a makeshift gym. You go, girl! You're entered for the giveaway!

MizzFIT September 20th, 2012 9:17AM

Hi Elyse,

You are too funny and I'm shooting virtual love right back atcha as I type this response. Music can really make all the difference. Sometimes I need music to help me locate my energy pockets within my body, and to help release them, y'know? But sometimes, I just go running without music and enjoy the sounds of the environment around me. It's much more peaceful to do in the country or suburbs than the city, but it kind of all depends on my mood and the time of day too. I think I need to put together a chill running mix for my slower runs. Love that you just inspired me to do this and reminded me that music doesn't always have to be high energy or dance-y. It just has to make you want to MOVE! Anyway, you did not indicate which prize you're interested in so let me know. Thanks!

MizzFIT September 20th, 2012 9:21AM

Hi Brittany,

Cute gear motivates me to work out often and for longer (and a huge part of that reason is that I like how I look in my gear). I think it's so important to find your workout style and nurture it. And you seem to have mastered that. What giveaway item are you lusting after? Thanks for your comment and you're entered for the giveaway!

Danielle Elder September 20th, 2012 5:47PM

I LOVE the Halo Sport! I have tiny "ear holes" so ear buds don't stay in... I've been known to stick a fleece, ear covering headband over those stubborn earbuds to stabilize them! Looks ok in the winter, but in the hot, sweaty summer? I have no solution. It's great to have an ANYTIME, already manufactured piece of equipment to make my long runs more doable with out having to reach up all the time to push my music back in my ears! Yay!

Samantha September 20th, 2012 10:55PM

I picked up the Vibram FiveFingers KSO Multisport Shoes. No specific reason for this model other than they seem versatile and were 60% off. If you are interested, I say definitely try them out, they are awesome. Try them on in person to make sure your sizing is right, it can be a little tricky to figure out.

MizzFIT September 25th, 2012 9:52AM

Hi Samantha,

Thanks for getting back to me with this info. I've actually never owned a pair of Vibrams but I'm curious to try long as they're not the ones made out of poor Kangaroos!

MizzFIT September 25th, 2012 10:59AM

Hi Danielle,

I know what you mean when you talk about earbuds that won't stay put or behave like you want them to. My ears are just exceptionally sweaty when I run, so everything just slides out (sucky-time for me because then I can't listen to music). Sounds like the Halo Sport headband would be the perfect solution to your problem as it is mine. Fingers crossed that you might be a winner ;)

Thanks for leaving a comment!

brittany monroe September 25th, 2012 6:35PM

I am most lusting after the the W8FIT. What an awesome idea!!! I love that it incorporates extra weight to give you more of a workout but you would never even know it with how cute the apparel is!!!

MizzFIT September 25th, 2012 6:51PM

Hi Brittany Monroe,

Yep, you hit the nail on the head! Good to know that's what you're lusting after! Thanks! --MizzFIT

Theresa J September 26th, 2012 12:20AM

When I am trying to make my workouts hard I have a chest weight contraption that is super bulky and make my breast ginormous so I would love the W8Fit apparel

Rachel DeVaughn September 26th, 2012 3:47PM

that is so cool!! i loved seeing the little weights and im def going to look up the headphones and flashing arm thingy!! :-)

Rachel DeVaughn September 26th, 2012 3:50PM

(Im entering the contest) I just bought workout clothes that glow in the dark in some spots so as im training for my race next month, i dont have to worry about it getting dark and people not being able to see me on the road!! thats how im training smarter this month!! :-)

robyn youkilis September 27th, 2012 4:31AM

I wear workout clothes that I would actually like to be seen in!! I love my tie dye pants from NUX. They're so cool, totally comfortable and look great in yoga and beyond.

I would LOVE the jammy pack! I go hiking in Vermont a lot and it would be fun to hike with some great relaxing music on.

MizzFIT September 27th, 2012 10:32PM

WHOA NELLY! I have small boobs and I must have this contraption! Sounds like the new miracle bra. I wore my W8FIT Capri Pants today actually and boy were my workouts HARD as F*&#! You're entered for the giveaway, girlfriend. Boobs and all!

MizzFIT September 27th, 2012 10:34PM

Hi Rachel!

I'm using the flashy arm thingy (LED light arm band from amphipod) tonight when I got for my nighttime run cool down. Are you a runner? In for the giveaway? If so, tell me what you're lusting after!

MizzFIT September 27th, 2012 10:50PM

Hi Robyn,

I think we might have the same pair of NUX pants! Are yours black & white and crystal dyed? If so, we're totally twinsies. You're the 1st person to speak up about the JammyPack, one of my favorite items of all time. And your idea for how to use it sounds JUST RIGHT. You're entered for the giveaway and can't wait to see if you win it!

Vashti M September 30th, 2012 6:27PM

I use a gymboss timer for interval training. I also have an app on my phone to track my running!

MizzFIT September 30th, 2012 8:14PM

Hi Vashti!

I have a Gymboss Timer too but don't really use it that often. Mine is pink! No surprise there, I guess. Do you ever use the Nike Trainer App? EVeryone seems to really love it! You're now entered for the giveaway and thanks for commenting!

Samantha October 2nd, 2012 11:18PM

Hey, they are on sale for $45... In case you want to try a pair at a low price!!

MizzFIT October 3rd, 2012 5:01AM

Hi Samantha! These are pretty cute and for $45 I'm totally in! Thanks for sending the link. Love that you did that for me :)

Tamara October 4th, 2012 12:11AM

The w8fit capris and the empowerment bras look awesome! The flashing amphipod would also be great, for the 5k "Run to the Snug" weekly runs that start at an Irish bar (the Irish Snug), go to a park, and end up back at the bar with pasta & salad for everyone. As for me, when the weather's ok I like to run up and down the stairs at a 5-level parking lot by my house, the fresh air beats the stuffy gym/stairmaster combo! ps I'd love a T-shirt, huge fan of your site!

MizzFIT October 4th, 2012 3:43AM

You are too cute for words. I'll need details to send you a tee (sizing, etc). Does this Run to the Snug run involve beer? LOL! I like that you run the stairs the parking lot because it's totally something I'd do too. You're entered for the giveaway, my friend.
