Tone It Up Girls Care More About Being Normal Than Being On TV; Will Always Have Their Blog.

Fitness - Celeb interviews - Entertainment - Trending

Normal or Not?

Before I met them, I'd never guess that Karena and Katrina from Tone It Up would be anything close to normal. For crying out loud (as my Grandma would say), they're beach babes! They probably walk down the street with an entourage of hecklers and panty-shot prone photographers. Could these girls, featured in countless magazines and known online globally as the Tone It Up Girls, really be normal?

That's what I wanted to find out because word on the fitness scene was that Bravo had been scouting them for a show. Luckily, I got to meet and hang with Karena and Katrina over the summer and find out more about their journey, including how they found each other and where they're going next. I interviewed them on the red carpet at Pedal On The Pier in Santa Monica...

...and then spent a weekend with them as part of Oakley Women's Perform Beautifully experience in Napa Valley, California.

Being in the fitness world (which can be as caddy and competitive as any other profession), you hear a lot of rumors. And I'd heard a TON about these girls...but I was psyched to get the REAL STORY from the only source that matters. Them. So here it is.

The only missing from it is Karena's infectious laugh and Katrina's warm smile. No wonder Jane Fonda loves them.

These girls are bringing back the oldschool norm of happy, bubbly girl-power fitness. They're taking the edge off of edgy.

After you read my interview with Karena & Katrina...

Please come back here and leave a comment. What do you think about their interview? Are you dying to be a Tone It Up Beach Babe or is your fitness approach less girly?

I like what Katrina says in the interview you're about to read:

There’s no single road or path you need to follow. You should just do what works for you and encourage others to do the same.

But of course, I want to hear what YOU have to say!

I love these ladies I have been following them for a while now. They are just so fun I think that is why I love them so much!! They are truly out to help others its not just about them selves. They are not afraid to be themselves either which I think is a huge hurdle for most people. They seem very humbled by there work and there journey to get to where they are today. I think its great how they met and just clicked, some people try so hard to be likable but they really do not have to try at all. I really hope leggings with thongs over them do not come back!!! That would be a trend I steer clear of lol Thanks for sharing your interview its always so nice to hear from people that have huge hearts and passion like they do :)

Bianca, this was another awesome interview, for sure. I have been a big fan of Karena & Katrina (I'm even wearing my grey Tone It Up! shirt as I type this comment, haha) and the Tone It Up community. I'm definitely more like Karena, with her answer to the fitness fashion style. Love learning more about them!

Liz,

Funny that you're wearing their shirt! I need to get one! Y'know, it was interesting interviewing 2 people at once. Was it easy to read?

Sending you love!

Hey B,

You have some good taste in fitness friends! Thongs? Please no! At first when Katrina said that, I thought she was for real. Thank god she was kidding. But I have a feeling that trend will come back again as all terrible fashion trends cycle in new and interesting ways. Intrigued to see how it may be revolutionized for future fitness-fashionistas, aren't you?

luv,

Yes! Easy and FUN to read :) I always enjoy the layouts of your interviews - they're more engaging.

Hi Liz,

Good to hear! The Tone It Up girls are so different because they're a partnership of fitness philosophies. You don't see much of that these days... Hope you have an amazing weekend!

luv,
