Weight Loss At Your Fingertips

Fashion/Gift - Health

The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss & Body Confidence is literally at your fingertips. First, in the form of a compelling book by tapping expert Jessica Ortner. Second, by way of your very own hands. Confused? It's OK, I was too, at first :)

I made a video for you to watch about the growing tapping trend and its link to weight loss because it's hard to imagine let alone believe in without some kind of visual. Jessica Ortner kindly shared her time with me to answer all my burning questions.

Watch my video and leave a comment at the end of this post to win a copy of Jessica's book and begin your own transformation.

It's fascinating to me that you can give yourself therapy with your very own hands! Simply by tapping on the karate chop point followed by the other acupressure points on your upper body, you stimulate the release of toxins and decrease cortisol levels. If you're unfamiliar with cortisol, it's a stress hormone that leads to weight gain and has a tendency to target the belly first. Oy vey!

Tapping actually isn't a new thing. It's been happening for years. You might be suprised to learn that it derives from ancient acupuncture.

When I tapped on all my points (for the first time) with Jessica leading me through the statements, I felt a release. I felt like I was giving myself attention in a way I usually don't when I turn into a stress ball.  Which brings me to question, WHY ARE WOMEN SO STRESSED OUT?

I guess I could say I get stressed because... I'm a small business entrepreneur who works hard and doesn't sleep enough. But it's not just that. I'm also not married, don't have kids and living a lifestyle that goes against the grain for women of my age. Admittedly, feeling like I'm on a different track, creates another layer of stress I try to repress. What about you? Have you thought about what's really causing you pain besides your ever-growing to-do list?

Jess calls it "self love" but when I project my anxiety through nail biting, picking at my skin and over-plucking my eyebrows (I know that last one sounds weird but we all have our quips), I feel like I'm attacking myself. I need to put my hands to better, more therapeutic use...and tapping seems like a good thing to try. I like that it's so natural and calming.

The above is a quote from Jessica Ortner. It explains her philosophy of "dropping stress so you can drop pounds". Jessica used this approach to lose 30lbs herself. If she can do it, we can do it. I'd much rather put my faith in this kind of healing and transformation than a shake or a pill. Fad diets fail us because we remove ourselves from the equation, relying on something else to save us. Tapping connects you to your emotions and successive actions.

I like Miss Jessica Ortner. I think she's going to teach us a thing or two over the years about body image and confidence. I'd kill to lose a few pounds but more than anything I'm on a mission to grow out my eyebrows, stop biting my nails and resist touching my blemishes. If I can do that, I can surely ignore the cat calls from the candy aisle.

I swear to God this happens to me ALL THE TIME! I try not to look and just keep walking, but...

Think tapping could make a difference in your life? What's your take on women being so stressed out? Share your thoughts and you'll be entered to win my GIVEAWAY for 1 of 3 copies of The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss & Body Confidence. I'm picking the winners on July 8, 2014. Good luck!

OMG I pick my eyebrows too!!! I thought it was only me! Can't stop, won't stop, especially when I'm stressed. It's very embarrassing, especially when I try to get it fixed at threading/waxing places. They'll be like, what happened? And I have to tell them that I pick eyebrows (my left one) when I feel stressed, it brings a weird sense of relief. I think all women are stressed out, we just have different stressors we deal with, whether it be the pressure of society norms (get married, have kids, take clothes to cleaners) or just simply getting upset with social media and the fear of missing out. There are many ways that we can reduce stress, we all know about it but sometimes we just minimize the benefits and shrug it off. I am interested in finding out more about tapping! If it worked for Jessica, it could work for me! Xoxo

I think many things stress women out (omg, can I relate to what you said about being a small business entrepreneur and being at an age where everything I am doing is going against the archetype...I just know it's going to work out for us both, though!).

At the root of what stresses us is something you said above: "...[W]e remove ourselves from the equation, relying on something else to save us." You were referring to fad dieting but I think we do this in pretty much every other way too, which makes us feel out of control, overwhelmed and disappointed.

I can relate to your and Jessica's journey in that I got back to the core of me instead of looking for something outside of me (from a diet, to a dude, to a deal). I used to rely on career and business accomplishments as the things outside of myself that were going to save me. No more. Me and my faith are enough. Period. Not the approval or the amazingness (is that a word) of anyone or anything outside of myself.

I think if tapping brings the awareness back in a moment and reminds us of every inch of ourselves being enough because we can tap and release then it's another fantastic way to cherish how truly powerful and capable we are of choosing peace and joy. This kind of mindset helped me let go of pain and thus let go of weight. Fifty down, thirty to go, woot (for health)!

This is so sooo fascinating! I notice I have a tendency to play with my pen or touch my nails when I get nervous, so definitely need to figure out how to control that more so it doesn't make me appear nervous. Love that this can be compared to acupuncture without the needles! Stress is awful and there's an increasing amount b/c there's so much expectations nowadays. I love that there's also more awareness of health/fitness and ways to reduce stress to counteract the additional pressures women feel.
