I don't blame runners for craving a late afternoon summer run, especially after a long day of work. I'm a runner...I get it. I blame runners for not taking the time to coordinate their run attire for comfort and style. A perfect run comes from feeling energized, comfortable and confident. We feel our best when we look our best, even while exercising.
That's why I put this run outfit together using pieces from Adidas by Stella McCartney, Sweaty Betty, Garmin and Nike. They're not too expensive and they'll go the distance for your summer runs. If I could tear myself away from my laptop for a smooth 3 miler right now, this is what I would wear. In fact, I'm going for a run as soon as I finish this blog post.
THE SUMMER RUNNIN' ESSENTIALS LIST
This cap has a visor brim because let's face it we all need a dose of sun but don't want to be blinded by it. Don't forget to apply SPF before heading outside. Cap is adjustable at back.
I'm a fan of this run top (which isn't a "vest" unless you're British) for summer runnin' because of the gaping arm holes at the side that maximize ventillation and let you show off the cute sports bra you're wearing underneath. It has an open racer back with a silver reflective logo that looks quite nice.
These shorts have a zebra design on the elastic waistband that I can't get enough of. Functionally, they're made with perspiration-wicking fabric that won't chafe and they're short so you're range of motion won't be limited. There's also a back zipper pocket for keys, your ID, etc.
I'm really into seamless everything these days, especially this racer back compression bra. It's super comfy and comes in vibrant colors that will pop under a loosely fitted/revealing top, like the Sweaty Betty Lightning Vest above. The seamless bands won't chafe and you'll get medium impact support.
Not everyone loves a thong panty. These seamless hipster panties will keep your bum dry minus the wedgy. Plus they have stylish ruching on the tush and come in neon colors!
I absolultely love this cut out sneaker for light runs. Ditch the socks. The colors and unique style will definitely pump up your run attire and attract eyeballs.
This is a serious watch because it looks cool and feminine on top of doing lots of amazing things, like using GPS to accurately record your speed, distance and pace information. It comes with a chest-strap heart rate monitor and can even compute calorie burn.
I always like to throw on a neon wristband no matter the workout. Why the heck not? Use them to dry the sweat from your brow or to just look cool.
It's out of stock but I threw it in the mix anyway because you've gotta have a mantra. To me, Run Like A Girl means you can be a jock and a fashionista at the same time. This significance means a lot to me. I love Nike's empowering messages and encourage you to create your own as you head out for a run or to the gym. Say it under your breath or visualize the words as you run. Put your mantra on a tshirt or homemade water bottle. Just be sure to find your own special meaning to help keep your determination and consistency strong.
