Falling In Love w/ St. Thomas

Hey guys! Last year in December, I had the greatest opportunity to visit Saint Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. I'd never been before and I was so excited to be going somwhere warm and tropical. The purpose of my trip was to try out some fun activities offered by The Frenchman's Reef and Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort. Specifically, Night Kayaking and SUP Yoga. It's quite special that a beach resort prides itself on attractions like these so I enthusiastically flew to Saint Thomas to experience them. My direct flight was an easy 4 hours from New York. Please watch both video journals below from my Mizzfit Video YouTube channel to see what transpired :) Beyond the night kayaking and sup yoga, which were fantastic (obviously!), there was so much more to do both on the resort and off. My favorite area on the resort was the Morning Star side, which had its hotel quarters styled like a little beach town. Unfortunately I was not staying on this side of the resort,...

My 2 Weeks in Maui

I went to Mau with Joe! AKA my instagram husband. I go to Hawaii every year in the spring and I make a point of going to a different island each year. I guess you could say I'm a tad obsessed but it's impossible not to be once you visit Hawaii for the first time (no matter which island you land on). You will fall in love with the island culture and aloha spirit, especially if you're stimulated by nature, beaches, water sports, the BEST food and super chill people.

2 Steps to Clean Skin

My skin is everything to me.  I’ve always been obsessed with having clear skin. My good friends joke that I have the most skincare products they’ve ever seen. It’s all because I have fun testing out different products until I find what works. But I also believe that having great skin requires daily conditioning. Nope, not the kind of conditioner you put in your hair. I’m talking about the kind of conditioning you do at the gym…y’know, where you actually put some effort into it! Day to night maintenance—it’s a regimen I swear by. Just like I never miss my daily workout, I never skimp on my skincare routine. I never go to bed with makeup on and I always prep my face with nourishing serums, oils and moisturizers depending on the season. A lot goes into my skin-game but to keep it simple, I've partnered with Pulsaderm to share a couple of quick and easy steps for guaranteed younger looking, clear skin. I practice these steps every day without fault and...

New York City from the JW Marriott Essex House - Win a 2-night stay!

⬆️ ⬆️ WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE ⬆️ ⬆️ New Yorkers don't get to experience their city as a tourist very often. Life goes by very fast here and you're constantly rushing somewhere, hopping in and out of subways, cabs, Ubers, Lyfts, Vias and whatever else is next as far as our ever growing transportation options. It sounds crazy, but the energy and pulse of New York City can make you take the city itself for granted. They say you can always tell the difference between a real New Yorker and a tourist because the locals never look up. We're too fixated on where we have to be next that we don't appreciate our skyscrapers and landmarks. Well...this New Yorker (me!) decided it was time to change that. I planned an Uptown Manhattan stay-cation and checked into a room with a view at the JW Marriot Essex House right across the street from Central Park. My stay-cation that you're reading about can be your next vacation simply be entering the sweepstakes contest at the...

Escape to The Chase Park Plaza Hotel

One of the perks of my job is traveling the country, and I get so excited when one of my trips takes me back to the city I was born in: St. Louis, Missouri. Yes, it's the Midwest, but that's what makes it so great. There's so much to do and see...and in my case, EAT! That green stuff I'm chowing down on is a bowl full of charred shishito peppers. Don't ever underestimate St. Louis restaurants, because many match up to the quality you'll find in cities like New York and San Francisco. For this particular trip, I chose to stay at The Chase Park Plaza Hotel, which is located in the Central West End of St. Louis. My stay at "The Chase", as locals call it, was fantastic! Hence, the need to review it for any of you who are headed to STL and searching for a hotel in the area. The Chase is actually a historic part of St. Louis dating back into the 1920's. Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Henry Kissinger and President Jimmy Carter all stayed here. When you check in, you walk...

What To Do In Woodstock NY

Make Woodstock your next weekend getaway this summer! Why? Because it's AMAZING there, on top of being the legendary home of the Woodstock festival. This is where some of the best musicians of all time rocked out and made a name for themselves. It's also just a really nice place to explore and disconnect from your life. WATCH the video below that I made of my favorite things to do and see in Woodstock. I went to Woodstock because my publicist was having a 30th birthday party Upstate. And before all our friends gathered together for it, I went exploring! I ate, I shopped and caught some rays on a giant inflatable swan at my hotel. I made a video about that too, RIGHT HERE. As you can see from my video diary, there's so much to do in Woodstuck but my favorite part was walking around the town and hopping into vintage stores. The flea market on Maple Lane right in the center of town was incredible! From flourless peanut butter cookies to 1904 St. Louis...

Weekend In Woodstock Upstate New York

I recently traveled Upstate for my publicist's birthday celebration and had to find a hotel. While researching online, I came across the Hotel Dylan. Here's a little video diary of this very special boutique hotel that I highly recommend. I was so inspired from the minute I got there and really enjoyed my stay...so I wanted to share the experience with you. I think as long as you're headed to Woodstock, you might as well get into the vibe of the legendary festival and stay somewhere that somewhat recreates it. While the Hotel Dylan is completely renovated and nothing is "crunchy" about it, you'll feel hippy-esque due to the decor, design and customer service offered at the hotel. Everyone there is so kind. Karen and Terry are your go-to contacts and if you email through the hotel's website, one of them will surely get back to you. My room was immaculate! The colors and interior design of all the furniture really puts you into a happy-go-lucky...

My Road Trip with Ford

The Fall of 2015, I had the most amazing time road tripping throughout the Tri-State area with Ford Motors in a 2015 Ford Escape. We filmed all my fit adventures while on the road and gave away road trips and incredible lease deals to people who entered the #WhereToNow sweepstakes. The concept of the beautifully captured campaign was that an exciting adventure could be as close as your backyard. You don't have to travel far-away to experience something new, healthy and active. We often take for granted the wonderful parks and historical sights within the region we live in. These are great places to work out and find inspiration. So why not make a day trip of it? The #WhereToNow campaign is no longer viewable on YouTube or TV (my road trip was all over the news!) as it came to an end in December 2015. But please check out these 15-second mini-clips and let me know what you think. What kind of fit road trips have you been on lately and what tips do you have to share?...

Why You Should Always Ask Yourself #WhereToNow?

I went on a gorgeous road trip in a 2015 Ford Escape with Tri-State Ford to celebrate the “Where To Now” sweepstakes. I made some amazing stops—this one was my favorite—and had a lot of time to think along the way. I kept thinking about how unexpected my life path has been. I’ve worked really hard to get where I am, but if you had asked me years ago whether I’d be in the driver’s seat of my own business and reporting on women’s health, I’d think you were nuts. Life is unpredictable and you could end up anywhere. But that doesn’t mean you can’t look ahead a little and put your dreams into play. If there’s one thing I know it’s that... adventure, opportunity, love and fulfillment don’t just come knockin’ at your door. You have to go out and find them. You essentially have to ask yourself what’s next in my life…what road will I take and where do I hope it will lead me? If you’re not asking yourself these questions, how are you ever going to...

Chasing Waterfalls on my #WhereToNow Road Trip

The Croton Aqueduct in Croton Gorge Park, NY is a sight to behold. I teamed up with Tri-State Ford on a "road trip to fit" in my 2015 Ford Escape and this was my 2nd stop. My adventures are part of Tri-State Ford’s “Where To Now?”  sweepstakes! So what did I do at the Croton Aqueduct, a historic water distribution system that has beautiful cascading waterfalls? Yoga, of course! In case you don’t know its backstory, the aqueduct is how NY once got its drinking water. Searching for a little Zen, I decided to roll my mat out. I remember when I first tried yoga. I’m never doing this again, I thought.  The practice of contorting into pretzel shapes was not my bag. I looked around the room at the other fit women in class flowing gracefully and I wondered, what am I missing? Now it’s so obvious to me. I was missing patience, self-acceptance and balance in my life. When I finally approached yoga with an open heart, that’s when things started to...
