On Board with Team SCA

I've sailed before but not quite like this! After writing about Team SCA and their amazing adventure racing around the world, I was invited on a press trip to sail with them. I'm going to try to put into words how incredible of an experience this was for me. While the entire Team SCA crew was not on board, 2 of its sailors were there to answer all my questions. Just to clarify, the Volvo Ocean Race is ongoing and was in full effect while I was on this press trip, but a few crew members at a time are allowed to come off the boat for a leg of the race and rest up. They meet up with their team at the next stop. For my press trip, Sara and Elodie were my guides. I learned a lot from them about Team SCA's voyage, race conditions and day to day life at sea during this gorgeous afternoon spent sailing on the Hudson River. I made this video to show you what it was like on the boat. Even though it was sunny and warm outside, we were all bundled up. The TP52 yacht you see me...

Healthy In Hawaii with Localfu

There's no place like Hawaii! My plan is to visit a different Hawaiian island every year until I've been to them all. I traveled to Oahu last year. Going to the Big Island this past February was my 3rd time back to the wonderous state and I used a new online travel guide service called Localfu to navigate my way around like a local. If there's something you should know about me it's that I avoid tourist traps at all costs! I like to uncover the healthiest and most active things going on in the places I travel to, and I always prefer to go off the beaten path. I'm a curious cat, which often gets me into the thick of things. That's me picking a noni fruit...unaware that they're the most disgusting of Hawaiian fruits to eat raw. It was a sour experience unlike the rest of my trip. What follows are my Big Island, Hawaii chronicles with Localfu... The way that Localfu works is really quite simple. You create an account and then enter your travel location. It helps if...

Dream Hotel Workout Giveaway

I spent my birthday at the Dream Hotel in Midtown NYC and it was rad. No, I wasn't hiding out or crying into my pillow about turning 36. Frankly, in my life there's no time for that. I'm a hustler and a dreamer, which means I'm constantly working to grow my company and my career as a TV host. I teamed up with Dream Hotels for a little staycation...to get away from my busy life but to also celebrate a new year of it. If you're looking to visit NYC or take a staycation yourself, keep reading for details about the GIVEAWAY I'm offering with Dream Hotels. But first, a quick look at my birthday evening. When I entered my room at the Dream Hotel Midtown, this was the first thing I saw: a framed picture of my 2 puggles, a bottle of champagne and a gluten-free birthday cake! I wasn't expecting this at all.  I was overjoyed and so touched that the staff at the hotel went to such great lengths to make me feel special. Plus, my 2 favorite guys in the world are my furballs,...

Hydration Tips for Health & Glowing Skin

I'm 35 years old and what makes me a strikingly different person than my 20-year-old self is that I care a lot more about my health. With the exception of an ocassional late night Insomnia Cookies order, I take waaaaaay better care of myself now. God, if I could go back and undo all the terrible things I did to my body and skin in my 20's I'd be in a time machine in a heartbeat! And I'd smack myself silly before getting into all those damn tanning beds! If I had only known to do what works for me now. Oh well, stupid 20-year-old self, good thing you no longer run the show! One of my best pieces of advice for women in their 30's is to always stay hydrated. It really doesn't matter the time of year or season, we need water for our bodies to function effectively, to lubricate our joints, revitalize our skin and have good poops. There are more reasons but these are my favorites. In fact, I'm going to share 5 hydration tips with you that never fail me. But since I like to tell...

Ultimate Guide to Wanderlust Festivals from a Pro

It's crazy how much Wanderlust Festivals have grown! They're no longer a summer thing, but rather an open-ended opportunity to travel to some of the most amazing destinations in the world year-round while immersing yourself in good vibes and wellness. If you're reading this it's because you're a professional Wanderluster (like me) or about to become one and you're looking for more information. Well, you've come to the right place because I'm going to attempt to share the most info I can about the 3 festivals I've attended, which were all very different. I never thought I'd get so hooked on a yoga lifestyle festival (even though I'm a yogi) but the minute I experienced the nature, music, holistic, artistic and social sides of Wanderlust I couldn't help but go back. The first festival I went to was at Copper Mountain, the next was in the North Shore of O'ahu and the most recent was a lot closer to home in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. I'm going to tell you about each of these...

Bike Date for Dim Sum

I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer but the end of summer is knocking. It's September if you haven't noticed and the last official day of summer is on the 22nd of the month.  I think it’s important to acknowledge in order to take advantage of what’s left of this beautiful weather. So, I planned a bike date to Chinatown with a friend because the one thing I always miss when cold weather hits are warm nights that are perfect for getting outside and spontaneously experiencing new things. A bike date? Yes, really, a bike date. It was so much fun, so affordable and by the time I got home I think I burned off my dinner. I want to share this story with you because I hope my late summer adventure here in New York City will inspire you to do the same. Before you know it, your bike will be collecting dust so why not go for a ride? Grab a date! I mentioned the idea of experiencing new things. Well, in the 11 years that I’ve been living in New York City I’ve never...
