I Was At Grumpy Cat's Birthday!

#FortunaForAll #CollectiveBias #Cbias

Yes, I was at Grumpy Cat's birthday party. I know, I'm way more of a dog person BUT Grumpy Cat is 1) pretty darn cute and 2) really famous. So how could I turn down the opportunity to chill with her as she rings in her 6th?

The party was a delight. We basically surrounded Grumpy, lovingly stared at her, took lots of pics and then ate all her cake. It was a lot of fun and I had my fortune told by a psychic who told me to be careful because I was likely to get pregnant. Hmmm, still no baby yet!

Grumpy is a curmudgeon down to the bone. Btw, her real name is Tardar Sauce. Grumpy Cat is just her stage name. You won't get a smile out of her no matter how hard you try. I mean...she didn't even blow out the candles on her cake and refused to have a slice. At one point, she closed her eyes to spare herself from the sight of all of us.

As a dog person, I pretty much expect all cats to act this way. They're just too good to...

Female Hair Loss | PRP to the Rescue!

I made this investigative health video because I noticed I was losing a lot more hair than normal in the shower. It scared me. No one likes the thought of losing their hair! I began to research the topic primarily to see what I could do to better nourish my hair and maintain the strands that weren't abandoning me. In the process of doing my research, I realized this was something I had to share with you.

Please watch the video below or link to it here: Women Hair Loss Stories | How PRP Naturally Stimulates Hair Growth

Female hair loss is a big problem. There are several kinds as you will find out from watching my video. No matter what the reason for the loss is, the effect on the individual is always the same. She is emotionally distressed and her self-image dramatically suffers.

I have dedicated myself to lifting women up and connecting them to solutions, but I have to be honest, I never expected to make this video. When I first heard about the PRP treatment and...

How To Treat Pregnancy Pain

I've never been pregnant but these ladies are! Meet my 2 friends: Kristin McGee and Nadia Murdock. They're both fitness experts, like me! But they've got a leg up (or maybe a belly up?) on me when it comes to the baby game as they're both very close to their due dates. Watch the video above. Give the image of Kristin & Nadia a click! Watch it HERE too! In my interview with Kristin and Nadia, I ask how they're able to maintain their fitness routines. Honestly, it seems hard to me (even as a fitness fanatic). I imagine myself wanting to veg out in front of the TV all day. The idea of carrying around all that weight in your tummy seems like a workout in and of itself. Kristin and Nadia go on to share that there's lots of sensitivity affecting your growing belly and other parts of your body, too. Kristin and Nadia use Topricin pain relief creams. It's came as no surprise to me as Topricin is a health industry favorite for its all-natural, non-irritating products. I...

The Special Olympics Event That Changed My Life

I knew I'd be terrified rappelling down the side of a building but wasn't expecting it to pull on my heart strings. Meeting Lindsey Hawkins at the bottom of my rappel had me all teary-eyed. Her passion and enthusiasm calmed me and left me wanting to know more about her. I blogged about my Over The Edge Rappel experience last year. I shared pics of my descent and was  proud to announce that I had reached my fundraising goal. However, the story for me was far from complete. I kept thinking about Lindsey and the moment she hugged me. So, I kind of hunted her down! Please watch my video above, which includes my interview with Miss Lindsey Hawkins. She's a Special Olympics athlete who's been with the organization for 14 years. She finds immense pride in this and told me that she plays every team sport that is offered through Special Olympics of Missouri (SOMO). She describes how she feels about the 14 years she's invested in sports at SOMO as "the heart and soul of an...

Model Brad Welling Peaks In His 50's

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw pictures of model Brad Welling. He's strikingly handsome with silver hair and abs that put men half his age to shame. His modeling agency TRUE Model Management calls him their "unicorn", which I believe is the right word to describe him because he's an anomaly! Brad is 56 and what's even more compelling than his good looks is the fact that he didn't always look this way. In fact, up until just a few years ago, Brad was a skinny out-of-shape father coping with the stress of raising his newly adopted daughter all on his own. The best day of his life was becoming a dad but he lost so much weight as he took on the endless responsibilities of fatherhood. You can see that he looks older and gaunt in the face in the pictures above. Raising a child isn't easy as every parent knows but Brad didn't want to let go of his health and lose himself. The year after his daughter was born, he hit the gym and started working out with a trainer. Brad...

Tech Boom in Fitness, Fashion & Health

Tech is a hot topic in fitness, fashion and health more than ever these days. It's drastically changing these industries with more advanced fabrics, lighter and more funtional parts, more accurate tracking and motion sensors, and overall cooler customization. It's really amazing to see all the companies being born out of these kind of technological advancements. Technology spells OPPORTUNITY! I've been covering technology in fitness, fashion and health over the last 5 months and I really hope you enjoy these trend reports. The reason I find them so relevant is because by 2020, wearable technology alone with generate over 20 billion dollars in revenue. And I'm not talkin' pedometers! The category continues to evolve and expand beyond the fitness tracker we're all familiar with. It's a new tech-y world out there. Enjoy these recaps and please let me know what you think! This piece is from TechstyleNYC 2016 which just took place during New York Fashion Week on February 16th,...

Controversial Women Are Beautiful

I've always been a little controversial because I've never enjoyed sharing the opinion of many. I like to come to my own conclusions and I'm not afraid to stand out in a crowd. I take a lot of criticism for being an outspoken Republican (I'm NOT anti-gay marriage or pro-life though), for wearing waist trainers and even for making a living off of social media. If I ever had thin skin it definitely thickened up. People are always judging but that's OK, I enjoy the path less traveled if it sparks my curiosity. And yes, I've kissed a girl, but who hasn't? In all aspects of life, I'm drawn to women who take a stand on issues, don't care about being labeled a freak and just come out and say whatever it is they feel needs to be said. They're unicorns. I have 2 that I want to bring to your attention. There's Mar Ortiz who I discovered when her instagram selfie went viral. I was asked to comment on it. Watch the news segment below... Chef Robert Irvine Didn't Bite My Head Off!

Chef Robert Irvine is a really sweet guy even though he can come off as quite tough on his Food Network shows. I was so honored to interview him about his new book Fit Fuel and shift into fitness because I've been a fan of his for years and an avid watched of every Impossible show he's done. What I didn't capture in this interview is how much he adores his wife Gail Kim who is a professional wrestler and fitness lover. She's clearly a major inspiration to him. During the interview, Gail called him and you better believe he picked up his phone to take the call. So right in the middle of our interview, I got to see this "softy" side of him.  I could've cared less that we had to backtrack a bit and start the question over because I was overjoyed to see that a fitness woman melts Chef's heart. Please watch my interview with the Food Network's popular host and chef, Robert Irvine, and enter to win an autographed copy of his new Fit Fuel book by leaving a comment below or on...

Going Faceless with Artist Josh Tk

I found Josh Tk on instagram. His faceless photography is mysteriously beautiful and compelling. You can't just look at one picture. You'll eventually find yourself clicking on every square on his instagram profile much like I did. To my delight, I discovered that Josh Tk is from my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. So I reached out to him to express my fandom and whadayaknow, he's the nicest guy on earth! Josh invited me to shoot a few faceless pics with him and told me to pick the location. I chose one of my favorite spots to walk through in St. Louis: Concordia Seminary. It has a quiet, gothic feel to it, and my hunch was that Josh would dig it as a backdrop. These are the pictures he shot. Now, I'm going to tell you what they mean. Josh started the faceless photography project a few years ago as a creative outlet. By the time his photographs started getting noticed through social media, it was already a passion project. There are 3 main themes driving his art:...

Why I Love Barre + Best Barre Methods

Barre is a workout I do weekly because I love the results I get! I recently went on Great Day St. Louis to talk about my obsession with barre. Watch the video below from my segment or CLICK HERE.   Barre classes first came about in a big way in the 1950's on account of ballerina Lotte Berk. Her prodigees went on to turn barre fitness into a successful business of popular, packed classes. Michelle Austin, founder of the Fluidity Barre, was one of her students among others like Exhale founder Fred Devito, who I interviewed HERE. Barre fitness is all about using small movements to work trouble spots and tone every inch of your body by working multiple muscles in unison. The exercises are NOT easy. You will most likely discover parts of your body that you never knew were possible to work out or even move. And that's a good thing because it usually means THEY NEED WORK! There are many variations of Lotte Berks original barre concept, which are taught in fitness...
