On Board with Team SCA

I've sailed before but not quite like this! After writing about Team SCA and their amazing adventure racing around the world, I was invited on a press trip to sail with them. I'm going to try to put into words how incredible of an experience this was for me. While the entire Team SCA crew was not on board, 2 of its sailors were there to answer all my questions. Just to clarify, the Volvo Ocean Race is ongoing and was in full effect while I was on this press trip, but a few crew members at a time are allowed to come off the boat for a leg of the race and rest up. They meet up with their team at the next stop. For my press trip, Sara and Elodie were my guides. I learned a lot from them about Team SCA's voyage, race conditions and day to day life at sea during this gorgeous afternoon spent sailing on the Hudson River. I made this video to show you what it was like on the boat. Even though it was sunny and warm outside, we were all bundled up. The TP52 yacht you see me...

Indoor Running Classes, Studio Style!

Do you love to run? Sad your marathon training is over? Maybe it's too cold where you live to even contemplate a jog outside? But solitary treadmills ain't your thang? Well, then, you're going to LOVE this trend hitting the nation. You already know running is popular. Duh. But the craziness of the sport is that 5K's, half marathons, full marathons and even fun runs have doubled if not tripled in registration rates over the last 5 years. Along with it, a number of other boutique fitness studios are promoting running classes. There's Shred415 (which is a lot like Barry's but anyone who goes--like me--will tell you it's more about the running than the lifting). Equinox gyms also launched a group running class called Precision Running across it's nationwide locations. Running wasn't invented yesterday...

Ralph Lauren Oufits Team USA for Sochi. Get the Look!

Ralph Lauren styles Team USA for both the opening and closing ceremonies at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Check out behind the scenes footage of the athletes getting fitted in Munich before the start of the games:

In my opinion, Ralph Lauren's designs for Team USA are classically American and look sharp on camera--and important factor for an event that is globally televised. Each garment was handmade and the wool used was sourced from Oregon. I like the retro and stitched feel of the Ceremony Cardigans but I'm also crazy about the flared collars on the Ceremony Pea Coats.

Personally, I think ice dancer pair Meryl Davis and Charlie White wear it best. I just love them together!

To me, they resemble the handsomest of Disney characters. Meryl looks like Snow White and Charlie is none other than Prince Charming. Maybe it's just me...

Ralph Lauren definitely brings a look of "buttoned up" Americana and sophistication to our talented team of...
