I'm taking on a HUGE challenge considering my insane fear of heights. On October 2nd, I will be rappelling down the side of the Hyatt Regency St. Louis Hotel at The Arch so that Special Olympics athletes from my hometown can train, compete and enjoy a lifetime of thrills. Think I'm crazy? Because I do! However, I love what the Special Olympics of Missouri is all about so that's why I'm doing it.
You can watch me rappell down the Hyatt in downtown St. Louis (literally across the street from the famous Gateway Arch) at 2pm CST. You can also tune in as I live stream the whole thing on Meerkat. FOLLOW ME HERE on Meerkat and download the Meerkat App to get an alert right before I go live and with just 1 click, watch my descent!
Donate $5 and I will scream your name out as I rappel! Keep reading to see what that's about :)
Why am I doing this? I think you'll understand just by reading this: The Special Olympics Missouri is a year-round program of sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. They organize 21 Olympic-type sports events throughout the state with over 16,500 participating athletes. They engage kids with intellectual disabilities, build communities, and improve the health of all their athletes. Beyond that, they represent a global social movement.
This is an organization that sets the tone and environment for athletes to get in shape, demonstrate courage and most of all, have fun! No negativity or judgements allowed. Special Olympics of Missouri is about acceptance and inclusion.
The Special Olympics of Missouri brings people together (athletes, coaches, volunteers, fans and supporters) to excell past obstacles. How beautiful is that? We all have challenges in life. God knows I have a long list of my own. And no matter what those challenges are, we're all trying to get to a better place, right? To achieve greater things! I'm honored to rappel in 1 week's time and encourage you to get involved in Over The Edge or other Special Olympics events happening in your town. If you're from Missouri and want more info on how to get involved, CLICK HERE!
How am I preparing for perhaps the scariest moment of my life? I'm working out EVERY DAY. It's something I always do but I'm fitting in a lot of yoga to calm my nerves. I'm also drinking lots of this new water called Core Natural to make sure I'm hydrated when I go into full-adrenaline-freak-out mode. I might pee my pants but at least I will be ph balanced and replenished with electrolytes and minerals.
I believe it's important to face your fears. If you'd like, you can help me and Special Olympics athletes do this by giving a couple bucks to Over The Edge. This is my Over The Edge profile and donation page. Donate $5 and I will scream out your name as I rappel down. Donate $100 and I will say or sing whatever you like as long as it's rated PG for all audiences ;)
Tune in on the afternoon of my rappel! Follow me on Meerkat to watch and thanks for your amazing support!
