I recently traveled Upstate for my publicist's birthday celebration and had to find a hotel. While researching online, I came across the Hotel Dylan. Here's a little video diary of this very special boutique hotel that I highly recommend. I was so inspired from the minute I got there and really enjoyed my stay...so I wanted to share the experience with you.
I think as long as you're headed to Woodstock, you might as well get into the vibe of the legendary festival and stay somewhere that somewhat recreates it. While the Hotel Dylan is completely renovated and nothing is "crunchy" about it, you'll feel hippy-esque due to the decor, design and customer service offered at the hotel.
Everyone there is so kind. Karen and Terry are your go-to contacts and if you email through the hotel's website, one of them will surely get back to you.
My room was immaculate! The colors and interior design of all the furniture really puts you into a happy-go-lucky mood. I never guessed the bed would be sooo comfortable! What you don't see in my video is the nice flatscreen TV in the room, opposite the bed. We didn't use it much, but it's there if you need it.
I was all about record playing and enjoying the pool and communal fire pit. Each room has a name. We were in The Van, which for me was a perfect match because I had forgotten how much I love Van Morrison's music. I reconnected with his albums and my favorite songs like Into The Mystic and Brown Eyed Girl. They just don't make music like this anymore.
Hotel Dylan is literally off the main road in town so you can't miss it when you're driving up. Even though it's not hidden in the mountains or behind a thick row of trees, it couldn't feel more perfect. The salt water pool is nicely located and Santa Fe Restaurant (for lobster quesadillas and margaritas) is just steps away.
There's no doubt in my mind I'd stay here again. I was welcomed with open arms and sent off the same way. There's a strange sense of family at Hotel Dylan even though guests are always checking in and out. On a ledge near my room, 4 baby birds sitting in a nest learned to fly. I literally got to witness their first nervous flaps. The entire hotel was enamored by it and that's all we could talk about. It's like we all shared something amazing together...and isn't that what happened in Woodstock years ago?
You won't find a more unique and kitschy hotel in town. This is IT! Tell Terry (picured above with me) I sent ya :) Once you've booked, check out this video diary I made about WHAT TO DO IN WOODSTOCK. It's one of the cutest towns I've been to. Lots of good food and shopping...I can't wait for you to visit!
