I made this abstract video diary to preserve the moment I was experiencing while standing in the Hudson Yards Plaza during a worldwide pandemic. The Hudson Yards Plaza is the home to a structure called The Vessel. This is a spot in Manhattan that quickly became a high traffic area upon it's historic opening day. It also happens to be a place I spend a lot of time because it's in my neighborhood, about one walking block from where I live.
Full disclosure: I don't love wearing a face mask but I do it for your safety and for mine during the world's COVID-19 crisis. I don't think anyone enjoys wearing a mask! But this is our present reality. The first protective face mask that I got my hands on was the bubble shaped N-95 mask that is so tight and constricting around the mouth and cheekbones. I have really pronounced and high cheekbones so that mask wasn't happening for me. Not a problem because overnight the face mask business quickly evolved!
I posted this video I made on instagram today and it all just felt right to say. These are tough times but we are finding our way through it. I'm so proud of my city, my country and all of you. We're going to get through this....
There have been more scorching hot days this Summer of 2019 than I can count! And I believe I read in the news that this past May and July had some of the hottest days in history. That's why I had to do THIS BEAUTY REPORT on WGN TV Chicago Midday News.
I say it in the video below, which I hope you'll watch [ JUST CLICK IT ] but I'll say it again here: WHERE THERE'S A WILL FOR BEAUTY THERE'S ALWAYS A WAY! These are my tips for the worst beauty blunders of summer.
Problem #1: Your hair is prone to frizz.
Listen, I feel you on this one because I've spent a lifetime coping. My best solution, and it's one that works really well, is GKHair's THE BEST TREATMENT. It smoothes, hydrates and conditions your hair for the entire summer, making it frizz-free and easy to style. I get this treatment done at my salon in New York City called Gemini 14 Salon (ask for Christian Sanchez) and I won't lie, it's expensive: $400!!! But it's worth it to me in every way as...
Are you surprised that I've gone and tried yet another controversial skincare treatment? Don't be. This is what I do...
It's called the "Vampire Facial" because some skincare practioners go to the extreme of making your face all bloody, but it really doesn't have to be that way and I'm glad mine was NOT. The real name for this rejuvenating facial treatment is Platelet Rich Plasma Injection Therapy with Microneedling. I went to Youth Corridor for it, and sat down with Dr. Gerald Imber before and after my treatment to understand it better.
WATCH MY VIDEO BELOW TO SEE!
I will admit that my initial interest stemmed from watching Kim Kardashian receive it. She has the most beautiful skin and the best access to skincare trends, so how could I not be intrigued by it? As you can see from my video above, the Vampire Facial I got was very different than hers. It was a lot less dramatic. Still slightly painful but nothing I couldn't handle.
