Summer Runnin' Fitness Couture
22Jun
2010
I don't blame runners for craving a late afternoon summer run, especially after a long day of work. I'm a runner...I get it. I blame runners for not taking the time to coordinate their run attire for comfort and style. A perfect run comes from feeling energized, comfortable and confident. We feel our best when we look our best, even while exercising.
That's why I put this run outfit together using pieces from Adidas by Stella McCartney, Sweaty Betty, Garmin and Nike. They're not too expensive and they'll go the distance for your summer runs. If I could tear myself away from my laptop for a smooth 3 miler right now, this is what I would wear. In fact, I'm going for a run as soon as I finish this blog post.

This cap has a visor brim because let's face it we all need a dose of sun but don't want to be blinded by it. Don't forget to apply SPF before heading...

Yoga-Pilates-Sculpting with Kristin McGee at Pure East NYC
12Jun
2010
WHO is Kristin McGee?
Kristin McGee is a yoga & pilates superstar and the reigning queen of mind-body DVD fitness. I adore her because she's smart sweet as can be. And just look at her body--it's seriously aspirational! Kristin teaches yoga and pilates classes for sculpting and toning at NYC's top gyms. She's a very well-respected pro who really knows her craft. That's why everyone in the health & wellness biz wants to collaborate with her, including Bethany Frankel of SkinnyGirl.
WHAT is this workshop all about? WHERE is it? And WHEN?
It's called Trouble Spot Yoga with Kristin McGee and it's a one time only workshop at Pure East NYC this Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 4:30pm - 6:00pm.
You'll indulge in a vinyasa style practice with an emphasis on shaping up the arms, abs and thighs, with some fun Pilates style sculpting without distracting from the yoga sequences. Sounds amazing, right? Well I can assure you it will be...I've taken a few of...
Nike Rebel Sports Bra Reviewed By An Expert
10Jun
2010
This is a guest post by Meghan Kelley.
I had a busy week of testing out Nike's new Rebel Sports Bra (mine is white). I tried it out at Fight Club (a kickboxing club I belong to), ran 4 miles in it, and put it through a 90 minute soccer game. Thanks for the support, Nike! Overall, the the Rebel Sports Bra didn't look very pretty but it was extremely comfortable and supportive. I'm a 34C and found that I could adjust the bra in multiple ways for a perfect fit.
THE PROS:
The seamless construction was so comfortable unlike many bras I own that cut into my shoulders and become painful after a while. The soft, seamless construction on the bottom made this comfortable enough to wear to midday class and then keep on.
The perforated holes in the front and back provided ventilation and comfort.
The Rebel is adjustable in the back and along the straps. I made it very tight, which I like. I love this design feature which allows the Rebel to...
How to stick to your workout when Aunt Flow comes ‘round - 6 EASY TIPS
05Jun
2010
Aunt Flow will do anything to sabotage your workout but don't let the old hag win. Follow these 6 easy tips to stay on track.
1. TAKE A TOTAL BODY SURVEY AND PREP YOURSELF
Listen to your body before you decide to hit the gym. Are you feeling tired, bloated, anxious, or a little depressed? Are you having more food cravings than usual? If so, exercising during your period can actually decrease these symptoms.
Working out can help:
Decrease the pain of cramps by releasing endorphins (the body's natural painkillers), increasing blood flow, and by loosening muscles in your lower abdomen, back, and thighs.
Rid your body of excess water so you aren’t bloated.
Improve and stabilize your mood, making you less anxious, angry, or depressed. (source - Liza Barnes, Health Educator)
If you’re bent over in pain, nauseous or your head is throbbing, take the day off. Exercise can intensify severe menstrual symptoms....
