You Don't Really Know Your Mom Until She Loses Her Mom

You don’t really know your mom until she loses her mom. I learned this last summer as we struggled through not being able to attend my grandmother’s funeral in Honduras. I was in New York when it happened, while the rest of my immediate family was in St. Louis together. A few weeks later, as soon as I could, I went to visit and spend some time with my mom. She cried, recounted memories, and claimed she'd been prepared for it as my Grandma's health had been rapidly declining.

My Picks: Face Masks that are Stylish and Comfortable

Full disclosure: I don't love wearing a face mask but I do it for your safety and for mine during the world's COVID-19 crisis. I don't think anyone enjoys wearing a mask! But this is our present reality. The first protective face mask that I got my hands on was the bubble shaped N-95 mask that is so tight and constricting around the mouth and cheekbones. I have really pronounced and high cheekbones so that mask wasn't  happening for me. Not a problem because overnight the face mask business quickly evolved!
