I could spend an eternity wanting more…never satisfied with what I’ve got. Or, I could be happy with the skin on my back and the beautiful things I have in my life at this very moment. I could be happy with my dreams, whether or not they manifest. I could be happy with everything that makes me, Me, even if other people criticize. I could be proud of where I stand and how I choose to live…without the things I’ve been brainwashed to think should happen…or the things I’ve been told are a part of every successful woman’s life.
I’ve always wanted more. Who doesn’t? But I’ve hit a point on this journey, despite my insatiable career ambition, where I feel OK with what is. Stripped down to nothing, I’m proud of my spider veins, perma tan lines and the stretch marks on my ass. It’s a huge relief to bare it all..to unload my insecurities, my fears and personal failures. I’m not trying to be a model or get a ton of likes on Instagram, I’m just thankful to let go of all the B.S. that has corrupted my confidence over the years and that poisons the minds of young women.
I designed the grippy Mizzfit barre socks I'm wearing with Pointe Studio. You can get them HERE.
When my friends Michelle Thomas and Debby Siegel asked me to pose for YogoGirls on Instagram, it wasn’t a big deal at all for me to peel back the layers of fitness clothes (uhh...except for the socks). Going nude for their art felt right. These 2 ladies have been empowering people for over a year now with dynamic active lifestyle imagery that celebrates women’s bodies.
It all started with their shared love of yoga and cycling and quickly turned into a great adventure to capture the moment at which every athlete leaps or settles into a zone. I’m honored I got the chance to be both vulnerable and proud on the YogoGirls website. I feel exceptionally blessed to call the founders my friends.
The experience made me realize I finally feel comfortable in my skin and I accept my lot in life. I hope it inspires you think about the same for the New Year. Sometimes you have to strip down to build yourself up.
UPDATE: My friend and news anchor Jessica Abo interviewed me about the whole "going nude thing" on her YouTube channel RIGHT HERE! Watch it!
