For the last 3 weeks I’ve been suffering from a terrible summer cold that has really kicked my butt in a way that a cold virus has never done to me before. It made me realize how changed and weak my immune system is since the 2019 pandemic started. Wearing masks for over a year now undoubtedly made our bodies sterile to common colds to the point that that a summer cold virus could prolong itself into 3+ week ordeal. And I’m not the only one dealing with this summer cold from hell.
These are my Ocean-safe Sunscreen Tips + info on the adidas Oceans Run in NYC.
Look at me! All decked out for summer fitness and spending oodles of time in the sun! The funny part about that last sentence is that I’m terrified of the sun even though I love how good it can feel on the skin. I leanred in my late 20’s and early 30’s that the sun can destroy your skin, and how easily one can contract skin cancer. So I don’t play that game anymore of going out in the sun without any sunscreen. Nope! The big news, when it comes to sunscreens, is that the FDA is reevaluating the safety of every single chemical sunscreen agent until November of 2019.
Already, many sunscreen brands and products using chemical ingredients have started to change their labels or discontinue certain lines. While many changes are still happening and we won’t get the FDA’s final results until November, what we do know is that MINERAL SUNSCREENS have been found to be the safest for both human...
Hola amigitos! I'm back with some winter skincare tips that I shared recently on a morning show. Today seemed like the perfect day to write this blog because it's the coldest day of the year here in New York City. It's the type of cold that makes your throat dry just with one inhalation of the air outside. Do you know what I'm talking about?
Your face can take quite a beating in this weather. Here are my tips for the following skin issues that I think we can all relate to in the stark wintertime. And if you can't bother to read, no worries, just scroll for my video below which covers everything!
Dry Flaky Skin: What can you do?
I recommend investing in a good moisturizer that has ingredients known for infusing your skin with hydration. For example, I am a big fan of Cetaphil with Hyaluronic Acid. This is a newer range that Cetaphil came out with last year. The Hyaluronic Acid is the secret weapon as it both locks in moisture and plumps the skin. It comes in a Daytime...
I have so much to share. In 3 weeks, I’m celebrating a big birthday. I’ll refrain from sharing the number because candidly I don’t feel my age. Google it if you must, but all that matters is that I’m alive and survived the NY Marathon this year. 2018 has been an epic year for me both personally and with work. I grew as a host entering the home shopping market and doubled my income through Mizzfit LLC. I’ve traveled the world, written about luxurious resorts and wellness spas, and made new friends with whom I plunged into the Caribbean Ocean. Let’s just say it’s been a good year.
While all these fantastic events have been playing out in my life, I started to notice some changes physically. I’ll admit to decades of being that fitness girl who eats whatever she wants. I’ve always exercised daily and trained hard to avoid having to diet or watch what I eat. This approach worked for me for a long time. But it’s not working anymore. My metabolism is changing. Give...
GO TAHINI with me! There are so many reasons why so...of course, I’m going to list them out for you :)
First, tahini is a savory, lemony and delicious dressing that you’ve tasted before but maybe had no clue how to recreate…and guess what, it’s SO EASY! You can make this dressing at home to pour over your salads that you take to work or that you order out from restaurants. When I make it, I like to make enough to last me the week because I always eat a hearty salad for lunch and a small one at dinner. I try to avoid luscious dressings that cancel out the fact that I've eaten a healthy salad. A light yet creamy tahini dressing, in my opinion, is the wise way to go.
2nd, Tahini is made from a fine sesame paste, and for this recipe I will be using only the best from Mighty Sesame Co. Sesame seeds are packed with vitamins and minerals that are good for you, like calcium, magnesium, vitamin E and healthy fats.
3rd, unlike other pre-made dressings (which might...
I attended Wanderlust 108 in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park with Swisse Wellness to check out their charming installation called Destination Happiness. If you’ve never heard of Swisse before, they are a premium vitamin and supplement brand founded in Melbourne, Australia that has quickly launched across the globe.
Their entire philosophy centers around “health & happiness”, which the company shortens to call H&H in terms of everything they do. So it only makes sense that their village at Wanderlust 108 was called Destination Happiness. Here are a couple of shots of me hanging out with Swisse very early in the morning before all the Wanderlust Festival activities were in full swing.
You can’t see it in this picture, but to my right there was a braiding station and then to my left there was a massage booth. Both of these were awesome perks for Wanderlust 108 attendees who planned to run and do yoga during the festival.
I won’t lie, it...
