Well+Good Fitness Biathlon with Vega

Every now and then I do back-to-back workouts, and let me tell you, it's not always fun. You get so sore! But, when Well + Good's Fitness Biathlon is happening, I'm ALL IN. It's an amazing multi-city event that takes place every year to raise money for wellness-focused charities and organizations.  The best local fitness studios participate and everyone who signs up gets to pick 2 studios for a back-to-back workout. This year's charity was Young Survival Coalition and I believe over $25,000 was raised. The biathlon kicked off in New York City in the mid-afternoon, which made it nice and easy for Saturday late risers to commit (myself included). I was ecstatic that I got to select my team by neighborhood and revist 2 boutique workouts that I haven't done in ages: Aerospace & Peloton. When you sign up for the biathlon, you're given team choices or "tracks". It's great to do with a group of friends. You literally run to your next class once you finish the first,...

Gummy Vitamins for Grown Ups

Do you take vitamins regularly? It used to be one of my health goals that lacked real passion. The sight of plastic-y looking vitamin capsules and beige colored tablets just didn’t do it for me. Neither did swallowing them! So, when gummy vitamins became a thing, I was psyched. I don’t hesitate on taking my vitamins anymore. I’m actually excited to pop ‘em in my mouth because they taste amazing! Sundown Naturals® make a wide assortment of gummy vitamins that you can get from Walmart for a great price. I’m currently taking Sundown Naturals® B12 and Fish Oil Omega-3 EPA/DHA gummies in the morning, and their Melatonin gummies at night. While I don’t limit myself to just these vitamins, I’m taking these at the moment because it’s what my body really needs. As a TV Host and health & wellness blogger, I’m always on-the-go, shifting from project to project. A lot of people might think that bloggers sit around all day blogging on their computers, but...

HelloFresh + Bianca Jade

HelloFresh is how I learned to efficiently and deliciously cook. I never took an interest in making my own meals until I was 30. And once I became interested, the hassle of grocery shopping quickly became a burden, reigniting my laziness to order delivery or takeout. It's crazy to think you can be so gung-ho about fitness but then not take the best care of yourself when it comes to food prep. But I'll admit, that was ME...until I started to see my laziness take its toll on my body. The body I was working so hard to sculpt in the gym, sheesh! When you dine out frequently or constantly resort to delivery and takeout, you have no idea what's going into your food. Most likely, it's going to add up to lots of sodium, butter and unnecessary sugars and oils. As they say, ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN. I'm not a nutritionist or health coach but a lot of my friends are (with best selling books to boot!). So let's just say I've learned a thing or two from them, starting with how...

Chef Robert Irvine Didn't Bite My Head Off!

Chef Robert Irvine is a really sweet guy even though he can come off as quite tough on his Food Network shows. I was so honored to interview him about his new book Fit Fuel and shift into fitness because I've been a fan of his for years and an avid watched of every Impossible show he's done. What I didn't capture in this interview is how much he adores his wife Gail Kim who is a professional wrestler and fitness lover. She's clearly a major inspiration to him. During the interview, Gail called him and you better believe he picked up his phone to take the call. So right in the middle of our interview, I got to see this "softy" side of him.  I could've cared less that we had to backtrack a bit and start the question over because I was overjoyed to see that a fitness woman melts Chef's heart. Please watch my interview with the Food Network's popular host and chef, Robert Irvine, and enter to win an autographed copy of his new Fit Fuel book by leaving a comment below or on...

Chipotle Brussels Sprouts for Thanksgiving

#VivaLaMorena #CollectiveBias When I first started Mizzfit.com, I had no idea how to cook. Oh, how things have changed! It's one of my favorite things to do now. Today I'm sharing 2 dishes that I'll be preparing for Thanksgiving with my family. Since I'm the healthy one in my familia, they count on me to contribute an interesting veggie concoction that wows their taste buds. So, for 2015 it's going to be roasted brussels sprouts! As a Latina (my mother is Honduran), I'm feeling the need to spice up Thanksgiving with some Latin peppers. One of my recipes is an appetizer and the other is a side dish to accompany your turkey dinner. For both recipes below, I used La Morena chipotle food products. Together they took me no more than 25 minutes to prepare with prep time. La Morena products can be found at bodegas nation-wide. Look for them in the canned and jar food aisle where you'd find things like stewed tomatoes, pasta sauces, etc. The price tag is phenomenal. You...

Top 5 Snack Bars For On-The-Go Wellness

-- This is a guest post by Liz Stark -- Walk into any supermarket, natural foods store – really, any store at this point – and you are bound to find shelves and aisles stacked with all kinds of bars. Gone are the days of one or two brands – now there are literally hundreds upon thousands to choose from! With so many different (and competing) bar brands on the market, how are people supposed to know which (if any) are appropriate to consume? Now I know that there will be many that will stop reading this article and adamantly declare, “All bars are terrible poison! Never eat anything that comes in a wrapper!” However, I personally feel that not all bars are created equal. With all the options available, there are big differences in quality and quantity of ingredients, company/customer relations, nutrition facts, intended consumers, wrapper/label design, and taste. While of course it is ideal to consume as many whole foods as possible, it might not always be...
