My StyleUp Challenge

What gets you to the gym on days you don't feel like going? For me, it's ALWAYS been fitness fashion. I love clothes, shoes, accessories, and the feeling of being well put together--yes, even for the gym! If you love fashion, I think it's crucial to inject it into everything you do, especially if it helps you complete a task with more OOMPH. And God knows, fitness requires OOMPH! Here's a way to get some... Join my #StyleUp Challenge on the new BurnThis app!!! My #StyleUp Challenge on the recently re-designed BurnThis app (which is totally free to download RIGHT HERE on iTunes) is officially LIVE! The challenge is quite simple and the prize is quite big. I'm asking everyone to snap a pic of their favorite outfit, fit look, accessory, or fitness fashion product. The only catch is that it has to be something that motivates you to sweat (i.e. not a glazed donut). Tag it with #StyleUp and you're entered to win my latest Quarterly Box with over $100 of fitness goodies...

Naked And Not Afraid

I could spend an eternity wanting more…never satisfied with what I’ve got. Or, I could be happy with the skin on my back and the beautiful things I have in my life at this very moment. I could be happy with my dreams, whether or not they manifest. I could be happy with everything that makes me, Me, even if other people criticize. I could be proud of where I stand and how I choose to live…without the things I’ve been brainwashed to think should happen…or the things I’ve been told are a part of every successful woman’s life. I’ve always wanted more. Who doesn’t? But I’ve hit a point on this journey, despite my insatiable career ambition, where I feel OK with what is. Stripped down to nothing, I’m proud of my spider veins, perma tan lines and the stretch marks on my ass.  It’s a huge relief to bare it all..to unload my insecurities, my fears and personal failures. I’m not trying to be a model or get a ton of likes on Instagram, I’m just...

Glamming It Up for Nelly's Black & White Ball

This lucky girl was invited to attend rapper Nelly's annual Black & White Ball on December 21st in my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. Gotta say, I was really excited. I've always loved Nelly's music but I was truly thrilled at the idea of going to a glam event that would surely bring good vibes to a recently damaged city and it's people following the events of Ferguson. I've touched on the topic a little HERE. I needed a dress and I had no time to shop for one! A stylist-blogger friend of mine by the name of NYCPretty (who knows more about fashion than any person I know) mentioned Rent The Runway to me. I'd heard of it but the idea of renting a dress was really foreign to me. Then again, the idea of spending hours--maybe even days--shopping for the perfect dress was something I just couldn't do ESPECIALLY during the height of Christmas-time shopping. Nope. So I headed to Rent The Runway's NYC Flatiron boutique after booking an appointment for a personal stylist session and...

I'm In Lucy's New Campaign Called Childspose

Having a bad day? Things just not going your way? Tell me about it! The past week of my life has been a Groundhog Day of mishaps. I missed an incredibly important meeting last Thursday, then lost my phone and keys (which were eventually retrieved) and then yesterday somone important that I was supposed to interview for my Mizzfit YouTube channel cancelled at the last minute (just as my makeup artist and videographer were arriving to set up). Ughhhhhh! I blame no one but myself and the universe for these things. Because sometimes things just don't work out...and the worst thing you could do is get upset or blame someone else for the mishap. It's also bad to beat yourself up over an event that cannot be changed. All you can do is learn from it, focus on what's ahead and realize that it's not the end of the world. With that said, when I was asked to be a part of Lucy's #CHILDSPOSE campaign, I was like HELL YES! For me, it was a nice way to find humor in all the things that go...

Recap of My Life, 2014 Year End

So this is a recap on the last 2 months of my life. I figured why not turn the lens around and show you what's going on in my life. I enjoy narrating through pictures so here goes... 1. I launched an incredible Mizzfit sock line with Pointe Studio because I love barre fitness like a crackhead. The response has been amazing and no one has thrown their sweaty socks at me yet. They're grippy on the bottom so if you don't do barre, you can also just wear them at home instead of scratching up your nice wood floors with heels. They make great stocking stuffers too. 2. I spoke at iHeart Radio's Lifestyle Health & Wellness Expo in Brooklyn, NY. I'll be at the next one in Harlem, too, on January 29th of 2015. I was honored to speak alongside someone I quite admire: Miss Jenna Wolfe (health & fitness correspondent of the Today Show). I convinced her to meet with me and give me career advice so I will keep you filled in on how that goes. My advice to you...

Latham Thomas on Women Who Empower

I was lucky enough to interview Latham Thomas for my Women Who Empower series on YouTube. She inspires women through her business Mama Glow, her "hip guide" on prenatal wellness, her beautiful affirmations on social media and through all her doula work. She's been known to work with many celebrities like Alicia Keys. Latham also helps women get fit during and post-pregnancy. When I first approached Latham about filming together, I asked her if she'd comment on the events that went down in Ferguson, Missouri, which is not far from where I grew up in St. Louis. She was all IN. The conversation we had below was months before there was a final decision for NO INDICTMENT in the case against Darren Wilson. Click HERE or on the image below to watch. Everything Latham says comes from such a calm and honest place. Find out what the life of a Prenatal Wellness Expert is all about, especially if you're interested in becoming a doula or hiring one to assist you through your...
