You couldn't ask for a girlier, PINK-er event! New Balance brought together Komen Org and Girls' Night Out to celebrate 25 years of support for breast cancer awareness and fund raising for the cure. I could tell you that I hosted the event, that it was fun with an incredible turnout, and leave it at that. But I'd be neglecting the story that deeply connects me to the breast cancer cause. My great grandmother died of breast cancer and my great aunt was blessed to survive it. Since the disease runs in my family on the maternal side, I'm at risk of getting it and have endured all the tests to mitigate concerns. I know all about mammograms and MRI's, and how it feels as you wait to get your results. I take my health seriously but I think experiencing the loss of 2 close friends to cancer really hit home. I know I'm not alone when I say I hate the C-word and that I'm not the only person who's lost someone, but some people are luckily unaffected by it while others get hit...
Guess what?! Bethenny Frankel is our special guest at #NBGNO! I'm so excited about this because I've watched the Girls' Night Out movement grow so much since I joined the team. We are a group of empowered, health-loving women who work out hard but still crave a cocktail and girl-time. If there's anyone who fits that bill, it's definitely Bethenny! Look at everything she's done, from creating SkinnyGirl to hosting her own daytime talk show! New Balance & Susan G Komen For The Cure have been going strong for 25 YEARS! And for that reason, we celebrate at this next #NGBNO event, while honoring breast cancer awaresness month. As many of you know, October is the month of PINK. Companies of all kinds donate a portion of their profit from sales on PINK products made especially for breast cancer awareness and fundraising campaigns. New Balance has been doing this with Susan G. Komen for 25 years, making them one of the biggest sportswear players in PINK contributions. The...
When you hear the words "social workout" you probably think "group fitness". But I'm going to make you think something entirely different by the time you finish reading this article. Social workouts are on the rise and extremely popular among women. They go beyond group fitness. They are experiential events where people actually socialize, network, exchange goods/information and get inspired. In many cases, the workout is only a small part of the bigger social workout picture. Why is this important? Because women are redefining what it means to live a healthy lifestyle. A happy, healthy life is a balancing act of exercise, work, love, family, friendship, passion, inspiration, travel, food, drink and a million other things. Even shopping! So why not bring these things together especially when it comes to fitness? The Girls' Night Out New Balance (NBGNO) events that I host in New York City aim to ahieve this...and I think we do a pretty good job! NBGNO events...
I love when good things never die! I'm happy to report that Girls' Night Out events (#NBGNO) will continue to pop up across the country and eventually circle back to New York City in September. The next one is in Santa Monica on Wednesday, August 27th at 6.30pm at the NB Store on 2600 Wilshire Boulevard. Hosting the Girls' Night Out campaign for New Balance was one of the highlights of my summer. I got to work out and connect with so many amazing women who believe in the benefits of social fitness. What I loved most is that these women weren't competitive, mean, selfish or jealous. They were a bonded, smiling-laughing group. It was so refreshing to experience. I have to be candid and say that last night I went to an unrelated fitness event I was invited to in New York City, and there were several fitness bloggers in attendance who were very unfriendly (wouldn't say hello or shake hands) and no one socialized. When I attempted to introduce myself to strike up a...
Boy, have I got some great info to share with ya! These health topics are HOT and in no way normal, which is why I like 'em and can't wait to hear your thoughts. So be sure to comment on what you like, dislike or just can't imagine doing (in the comments section at the end). Before I start, full disclosure... I've tried and tested the skincare tips ONLY. The rest, I'm very open to but have not yet tried only because the treatments were not made available to me. For the record, I did ask. But since all these topics are trending, I feel it's my duty to spread the word. As a human guinea pig (which I commonly call myself), I'm pretty much game to try anything. So you never know what I'll stick into my feet or up my vajayjay tomorrow! That was meant to be a joke...kind of. Hope you laughed. Watch the video above (click the image) or keep reading for more detailed info than I was able to provide in 4-minutes on the Great Day St. Louis show. I promise you it's worth the...
These pics from the last #NBGNO event say everything. All I'm gonna write, since as you can see, my mouth is kind of sealed is THERE'S ONE MORE PARTY LEFT THIS SUMMER AND I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU THERE! On June 24th, we stretched together... We ran and sprinted along the Hudson River... We did bootcamp style drills and worked our derrières. We documented our adventure through NYC streets... We turned pedestrian heads at the size of our herd... Then we took things in-store with Holly Perkins and started a "band". Kind of... Followed by catering by Sweet Green (the BEST salads in NYC), and eventually drinks and dance. And, of course, some air-time... A party's not a party (worth bragging about) without a Step 'n Repeat... And some girls gone wildly fit and empowered! It was a perfect Girls' Night Out. See for yourself; more event pics HERE! Darn, I wasn't gonna say anythng. But I guess when it comes to...
