I finally got my feet into a pair of Evo running shoes made with Terra Plana's VivoBarefoot technology. I ditched the socks (a formality given the nature of the shoes) and rushed out for a 2 mile run. There's been a lot of hype surrounding these shoes so I was excited to finally test them out. Check out the review and the video I made immediately after my run.
THE PROS
Unique and attractive design.
Fitted and carefully contructed. There are no loose ends and the materials seem high grade and durable.
Extremely comfortable, especially without socks.
Super light weight...7 ounces to be exact.
Thin, puncture resistant sole that allows you to run on any surface without piercing your skin. However, I recommend avoiding areas with lots of small rocks/spikey objects and uneven surfaces.
Anti-microbial sole that prevents bacterial and fungal growth. This is a very important feature if you decide to go sockless or plan to go...
Add stripes to your athletic wardrobe for speed (and style). Adidas by Stella McCartney (which I can't get enough of) is rocking zebra stripes on everything...even sneakers! All you need is 1 zebra print piece to show your wild side. Choose carefully and don't mix zebra styles--be kind to peoples' eyes. Draw attention to stripes by adding bright colors or tame down loud patterns with neutrals. Experiment and be adventurous! You can always return to your black uniform once you've had a little fun with zebra print.
If you're absolutely married to black, Adidas by Stella McCartney has an all black run tight with zebra-print mesh inserts (in black). They're ridiculously cool and also come in monochromatic red. If you buy them, HIDE FROM ME because I'm 100% capable of hijacking them. Stella is known for her animal and eco-friendly fashion design. That's probably why she loves animal prints. Zebra's a tough one to do right but she definitely nailed it.
Best run gear from Lululemon to keep the warm in and the cold out.
1. The Principle Jacket (pictured above) is the epitome of fitness fashion. It's cropped and form fitting with a large zip-up collar and motorcycle zipper sleeves. It's light, angular and easily unzipped for ventilation.
2. The Winter Run Glove is a glove with a mitten-like fold. The glove's moisture wicking keeps fingers dry and warm, and the mitten fold protects against the wind. It comes in black and gray (and hopefully more colors next winter). You'll easily wear these gloves 24/7 but be careful not to lose them because they're not cheap.
3. The Ultralight Armwarmer is genius. It adds an extra layer of warmth to your arms and stays put without irritation. It's thin enough to wear under a jacket/hoodie and stretchy enough to wear over a long sleeve top. Or, just wear it with a t-shirt. I usually pair the Armwarmer with the Winter Run Glove since my hands are extremely...
