I was a little kid in a candy store at this year’s ING NYC Marathon EXPO. The Javitts Center was packed with fitness companies introducing new products and services. Hurray for SAMPLES!! I scoped the place out and below you’ll find my 4 favorites which I personally tried out and recommend to enhance your workout.

Runners in Prospect Park, Brooklyn and in cities worldwide (24 registered cities) wore the same red race shirt yesterday and gathered to participate in what Nike called “The Day the World Runs”. It was a fun 10K race and Prospect Park’s scenery was fantastic. Luckily, the rain gods were kind and the race was rain-free on Saturday morning at 8am. 3,464 runners participated and finished with an average pace time of 1:02:55. Overall, I was impressed with the organization of the race and the events that followed. Nike had tents set up for product giveaways and testing, free food and snacks, and race results. Basically, it was a star wars convention for runners. But hey, runners should dork-out too, i.e. pics of me before and after completing the race with my friend, Nicole.
I must say, I love the Nike + Human Race shirt! I’ll definitely be wearing mine again unlike other race shirts which usually end up at the salvation army. The race shirts are nicely...
I just signed up to run the Nike+ Human Race in NYC and now I’m going to recruit you!! The race is a 10K (6.2 miles) and takes place on Saturday, October 24th at 8AM in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. If you don’t live in NYC, you can run the Human Race in any of these cities.
Nike+ gear is not required for the Human Race. If you have Nike+, you can track and sync your run on race day to your Nike+ account and compare your results against everyone else running. The registration fee is $20 and $5 from every entry will go directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. If you’re getting ready for the NYC marathon in November, this could be a fun practice run and a nice break from Central Park’s training loops.
