Lindsey Vonn Strikes A Pose

FitCeleb.com reports:

Sports Illustrated changed things up a bit for their SI's Winter Olympic preview issue, which hit newsstands Wednesday, by putting Lindsey Vonn on the cover. However, a magazine that usually puts barely covered models on the cover is getting flack, because Vonn is in a semi-provacative pose which is being claimed it objectifies her.

The Vancouver Sun reports:

...her appearance in this month's Sports illustrated, complete with cover shot of the skier posed bent over, rolling down a mountain, has drawn fire from critics as "sexualized."

While some people are saying Vonn's pose is suggestive others are coming to SI's defense, saying it's merely a re-enactment of a tuck stance that professional skiers take when plowing down a hill.

I subscribe to SI and to be honest this is the first cover, in a very long time, that caught my attention and made me stop what I was doing to read about Vonn. She's obviously a major...

Kite Surfers Complete “Epic” Pier Jumping Stunt

Story reblogged from youtube below:

DAREDEVIL kite surfer Jake Scrace makes the most of the extreme wind yesterday with a death-defying 100ft jump over a pier.
Jake, 25, used the waves as a ramp to leap 40ft across Worthing Pier in East Sussex, before landing back in the water. His extreme surfer pal Lewis Craften followed.

Two kite surfers from West Sussex took advantage of strong winds on the south coast to realise an ambition to jump over Worthing pier.

Jake Scrace, 25, and Lewis Crathern, 24, had been planning Monday morning’s jump for three years but had to wait for perfect weather conditions.

They took off from Goring to the west of Worthing in gusts of wind that were more than 40mph.

Mr Scrace described the build up to the jump as “terrifying”.

Carpenter Mr Scrace, who makes kite boards, and professional kite surfer Mr Crathern are both from Worthing.

Between them they have 16...

Toby Tanser makes the world better through running.

Toby Tanser is my newfound hero.

Runners/racers/marathoners will appreciate this video he made.

If you don’t know who Toby Tanser, I’m about to tell you. He’s basically the raddest elite runner/philanthropist EVER. He started Shoe4Africa in the 90’s to collect used shoes for Africans to run. Since then, his organization has grown, bringing much more than shoes to Africa. He’s now working to build the largest children’s hospital in Africa. Seriously, you’ve gotta set your goals high to achieve great things.

Toby runs, coaches, writes best-selling books, inspires peoples’ lives and on top of all that, rocks a unique athletic style that makes him stand out from all the rest. Gotta love the locks. Did I mention he’s awesome? Nike thinks so. They put his book title on a t-shirt (see below). Wanna buy it? I do.

Get the t-shirt HERE.

It’s about time you read up on Toby Tanser because he's changing our world for the...

Swing into Shape with Kettlebells

Kettlebells are your ticket to a hot body and Lorna Kleidman will show you how. Lorna Kleidman is a two-time kettlebell world champion and pioneer of kettlebell fitness for women. She leads classes and private training sessions in Manhattan and has even authored a guide to her kettlebell workout program called, “Body Sculpting with Kettlebells for Women”.

I popped into Lorna’s class to find out how women are shape-shifting to kettlebells. I found myself in good company, with a mix of women who attend class weekly to enhance their muscle tone and maintain a feminine physique. The class works with kettlebells ranging from 5 to 25 pounds and Lorna helped me select a kettlebell based on my fitness level. We stretched, warmed-up, and then engaged in 55 minutes of pure kettlebell exercise. Kettlebell moves include a lot of lifting and swinging motion that’s actually quite fun. C’mon, who doesn’t like to swing?

Initially, the lifting/swinging movement feels...

Dara Torres On Getting Better With Age

Olympic swimmer, Dara Torres, proves that at any age we can achieve greatness. The key to success is committing to being great. In THIS interview she says, “Don’t put an age limit on your dreams.”

Dara is one of the most down-to-earth, relate-able and inspiring female athletes. She’s had major wins and losses throughout her life which she openly discusses in interviews and shares in her recent book, Age is Just a Number.

In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Dara showed us that winning the silver at 41 was just as much an incredible mental feat as a physical one. The adage on Dara’s picture is from the Lululemon Athletica store bag (the one you get with your purchase). It’s a truth that’s so relevant to Dara Torres’ success and to our own.

If you haven’t already—commit to being great at what you love most.

What would Marc Jacobs do (at the gym)?

Answer: LATERAL PULL DOWNS

Marc Jacobs is one of my favorite designers (who I like to feature) and I’m giddy after spotting him at my gym in New York.

I was amazed by his upper body strength and build. I’ve seen pictures before but in person he’s noticeably more muscular and sexy. And of course, he was the best dressed man at the gym.

Inspired by Marc? Watch THIS video on lateral pull-downs:

This weight lifting exercise will work your chest, back, shoulders, and arms.

Make sure your form is correct prior to lifting.
