Destination Happiness with Swisse at Wanderlust 108

I attended Wanderlust 108 in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park with Swisse Wellness to check out their charming installation called Destination Happiness. If you’ve never heard of Swisse before, they are a premium vitamin and supplement brand founded in Melbourne, Australia that has quickly launched across the globe.

Their entire philosophy centers around “health & happiness”, which the company shortens to call H&H in terms of everything they do. So it only makes sense that their village at Wanderlust 108 was called Destination Happiness.  Here are a couple of shots of me hanging out with Swisse very early in the morning before all the Wanderlust Festival activities were in full swing.

You can’t see it in this picture, but to my right there was a braiding station and then to my left there was a massage booth. Both of these were awesome perks for Wanderlust 108 attendees who planned to run and do yoga during the festival.

I won’t lie, it...

Running – Keeping it in the Family

Disclosure: This blog post is sponsored by adidas, written in full authenticity by me. I was asked to partner with adidas and provided compensation to purchase the fitness apparel I’m wearing and photographed for this article.

My running story is complex mostly because I started running because I hated it so much.  It seemed like such an easy exercise for most people and I never understood why it was so difficult for me.  I was determined to become a runner and by the time I was out of college, I had become one.

I ran and ran and ran until one day I decided I was fit enough to run a marathon. I consulted my uncle who was the only other runner in my family. He gave me lots of advice and we began to train together here and there. We both lived in New York City so we’d jog down the West Side Highway Hudson River Run Path. It wasn’t nearly what it is today, but it was still a beautiful pathway and I’ll never forget those training runs.

My uncle Larry...

Apple Cider Vinegar - New Safety Concerns!

I was invited on Dr. Oz's show to be part of a discussion on the growing safety concerns over Apple Cider Vinegar. Before I get in too deep in this blog, I just want to say that I'm NOT an apple cider vinegar expert whatsoever. I do happen, though, to be an apple cider vinegar drinker...but I only consume it minimally. For years, I've been putting about a shot glass amount of ACV in my water bottles. I don't love the taste (who does?) and too much of it makes me gag so I've always kept my intake very small.

The issues that Dr. Oz's investigative show chose to tackle are related to the ACV craze and a ton of companies trying to get in on the financial gain of selling ACV products to health fanatics and consumers jumping on the bandwagon. Here are the main concerns:

Not all Apple Cider Vinegar products are made the same.

There are ACV branded supplements being sold that don't even have ACV in them!

Other ACV product are being sold that have toxic levels of...

I Was At Grumpy Cat's Birthday!

#FortunaForAll #CollectiveBias #Cbias Yes, I was at Grumpy Cat's birthday party. I know, I'm way more of a dog person BUT Grumpy Cat is 1) pretty darn cute and 2) really famous. So how could I turn down the opportunity to chill with her as she rings in her 6th? The party was a delight. We basically surrounded Grumpy, lovingly stared at her, took lots of pics and then ate all her cake. It was a lot of fun and I had my fortune told by a psychic who told me to be careful because I was likely to get pregnant. Hmmm, still no baby yet! Grumpy is a curmudgeon down to the bone. Btw, her real name is Tardar Sauce. Grumpy Cat is just her stage name. You won't get a smile out of her no matter how hard you try. I mean...she didn't even blow out the candles on her cake and refused to have a slice. At one point, she closed her eyes to spare herself from the sight of all of us. As a dog person, I pretty much expect all cats to act this way. They're just too good to...

How I Deal with Nor'easters and Stress

New York City is gearing up for its 3rd Nor'easter. Each time it hits, it's the day I'm supposed to travel for work. I've already had to reschedule two TV appearances this year on account of the first Nor'easter. But hey, weather is unpredictable and when it hits, it usually hits hard. There's nothing you can do about it. Unless of course, you're ME...you'll find something to do like STRESS! I was born a worry wort. It's a shame because stress is so bad for your health.

I should really take my own advice and just NOT stress out but that's hard for me to do. Over the years, I've tried a lot of supplements to help calm me down. There are some that work really well for me that contain Magnesium powder that you can mix with water. I like them fine but I'm not always in the mood to down a full glass of flavored magnesium water. Lately I've been turning to vitamins, which in my opinion are much easier to take. I get nutrients to help me calm down and feel more balanced.

At first,...
