As seen on
Tell me if you can relate? You go to the eye doctor. You browse their eyewear. You fall in love with a pair of frames that look amazing on you. You ask for the price. BOOM! It's $350! And the excuse for the price is always the same thing: "Well, they're DESIGNER." Honestly, most of the time, I've never even heard of the designer that makes the glasses. The brand name means nothing to me.
Maybe it's because I don't wear my glasses 24/7 as I'm mostly in contacts. I'm a part time eyeglasses wearer but I still value the look and feel of prescription eyewear on my face. I just don't believe in paying a crazy amount of money for 1 pair of glasses that I might get bored of within a few months. If you can relate, then you're going to appreciate my discovery.
Firmoo is an online optical store that I was lucky enough to find a the right time when I was in need of new glasses. Their deals are INCREDIBLE! I decided to test them out by uploading my prescription and browsing their frames...
I'm really not much for camping but when I got invited to Pursuit Series at Hunter Mountain New York, my penchant for a new outdoor experience drove me to say HELL YES! Plus, it isn't quite "camping" when you're staying in an UnderCanvas tipi tent. Mine had 2 beds, a night table, chair and a pretty cool rug that I would totally put in my own apartment.
Pursuit Series isn't your ordinary camping excursion. It's literally an outdoor adventure camp for grown-ups who like to be active, social, in nature and then have fun at night with drinks and music. I literally had an epic weekend in one of the most beautiful and scenic parts of New York. The only downside for me was bugs (like I said, I'm not a "camper") and the fact that it was a super hot weekend. But I loved every second of it!
This was Pursuit Series' 3rd event and I found it to be exceptionally well organized. I arrived a day and a half late only because I literally drove up to Hunter Mountain from JFK...

My running story is complex mostly because I started running because I hated it so much. It seemed like such an easy exercise for most people and I never understood why it was so difficult for me. I was determined to become a runner and by the time I was out of college, I had become one.
I ran and ran and ran until one day I decided I was fit enough to run a marathon. I consulted my uncle who was the only other runner in my family. He gave me lots of advice and we began to train together here and there. We both lived in New York City so we’d jog down the West Side Highway Hudson River Run Path. It wasn’t nearly what it is today, but it was still a beautiful pathway and I’ll never forget those training runs.
My uncle Larry...

Have you noticed? I’ve been covering more non-invasive treatments lately. Not only is it trending but people clearly prefer a more subtle way of touching up their problem areas. I agree! You get to skip the excruciating pain, downtime, excessive treatment costs and prescriptions. Plus, it’s a lot less stressful when nothing gets punctured or cut open, right?
I’m pretty adventurous and inquisitive when it comes to body transformation procedures (as I’ve candidly dabbled in a few), but I’m also incredibly squeamish so I’ve really been enjoying this wave of non-invasive beauty.
LET’S TALK MUSCLE & FAT!
EMSCULPT is the latest non-invasive treatment I tried, which consisted of 4 visits to Juva Skin & Laser Center in New York City (where most of the clinical studies for EMSCULPT actually occurred). I read up extensively on the clinically proven treatment, which is part of...
It's happening again! Propel Co: Labs Fitness Festival is coming to New York City in full force, led by Nicole Winhoffer and a handful of talented artists who will surely blur the lines between fitness and music.
What is Propel Co: Labs Fitness Festival? It's a fitness event traveling through several major US cities that combines fitness, music and culture. Fitness trainer and innovator, Nicole Winhoffer, has been part of the event for 3 years. Formerly fitness inspiration to Madonna, Nicole teacher her NW Method in the form of a static dance class. Just look at these pictures!
It's as if a concert and a workout are happening simultaneously. Could you ask for more stimulation? I'm truly excited to join Propel for this event as it will be my first time at their festival. To celebrate, I'm giving away a pair of tickets to 1 lucky Mizzfit reader or social media follower. Keep reading for details!
What to expect... At this year's Co: Labs, in addition to NW...
I'm a "yes" girl, and when opportunities come knocking, I always answer the door. But let me tell you, it's not easy chasing your dreams, and sometimes I'm so exhausted I just want to slam the door. A wise professor once told me in college, "You can sleep when you're dead." And this is what I constantly replay to myself when I'm feeling overwhelmed. I'm sharing this with you because oftentimes people think what I do is super glamorous. The truth is that it's never without stress or lack of sleep.
So, this is catch up blog to tell you what's been going on with me. Can you guess that I've been working a lot? It's been insane. The travel has worn me down a lot but I have to say, I couldn't be more passionate at the moment (and maybe that's the problem, lol!) I'm working with a line of skincare that is a dream-come-true level project. It's a new line, which I've really made my own, allowing me creative say in everything we do.
You've probably noticed I've also been...
I recently spent the day at NKD NYC for a very different kind of spa day. NKD NYC is a Midtown NY based beauty & wellness oasis. It's small, private and very chic. They offer a range of treatments. As you can see from the video above, I had a cryo facial (my first!) along with a few other treatments that were entirely new to me. It's rare when I haven't heard of something because I've literally tried it ALL! But this place definitely introduced me to a few new things!
When you arrive to NKD NYC, it's a quiet entrance because they cater to top tier clientele and want your experience to be comfortable and un-exposed. There is always a nurse and practioner on staff.
Upon my arrival, I was led to a room with an Infrared LED Light Bed where I got to chill for 20 minutes. I'm a big believer in LED Light Therapy but I had never been in a bed like this before with both red and green LED lights. It takes about 10 minutes, but you will...
Call me crazy but I tried an ultrasound energy treatment to get rid of my tech neck! It's called Ultherapy (also known as Ulthera) and it's a non-invasive anti-aging treatment that "potentially" helps the skin to tighten, firm up, lift up, and even become smoother in texture. I use the word potentially in quotation marks because this is how Ultherapy's own marketing materials position their claims. And I will admit, right off the bat, that my results were not dramatic...but I did see a change.
These days we're used to seeing such dramatic results that it can be shocking when the results are more subtle. It's also fair to say that Ultherapy results vary by person. For the most part, people who try it experience a tightening of the skin and less sagging.
You can see my results for yourself and tell me what you think. Watch my video below documenting my treatment and my results at three and six months out.
I was invited on Dr. Oz's show to be part of a discussion on the growing safety concerns over Apple Cider Vinegar. Before I get in too deep in this blog, I just want to say that I'm NOT an apple cider vinegar expert whatsoever. I do happen, though, to be an apple cider vinegar drinker...but I only consume it minimally. For years, I've been putting about a shot glass amount of ACV in my water bottles. I don't love the taste (who does?) and too much of it makes me gag so I've always kept my intake very small.
The issues that Dr. Oz's investigative show chose to tackle are related to the ACV craze and a ton of companies trying to get in on the financial gain of selling ACV products to health fanatics and consumers jumping on the bandwagon. Here are the main concerns:
Not all Apple Cider Vinegar products are made the same.
There are ACV branded supplements being sold that don't even have ACV in them!
Other ACV product are being sold that have toxic levels of...
One thing is certain, I feel like I don't blog enough! So many bloggers say that...I know...as it can be really hard to keep up. Especially when it comes to pouring your heart out (with the right words typed in a quiet place) as I'm about to do right now...
So here's the deal, things in my life over the past 10 years have changed so much! My business (Mizzfit LLC) has evolved in ways I never expected and much of the work I do are projects that have nothing to do with blogging. I will never abandon it though because it's how I got my start as an entrepreneur...and really, it's how the concept of "Mizzfit" began. On top of that, I just really like to write. I can't imagine not having a space to do that.
So, without digressing more, I have entered the world of home shopping. I must admit this has always been a dream of mine. For many of you, home shopping is a joke and it's something that probably never appealed to you. For others, well, it's how they shop! To be perfectly...
